NFL Week 15 fantasy football, start ’em, sit down

  • To sit Alec Pierce: The Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback situation may not be a major concern for most Colts players, but their deep threat faces a particularly rough matchup.

I asked fantasy managers at the PFF Discord And Blue sky which players they are least sure about this week, and I put together that list and ranked them against each other. If you list multiple players, you should start with the highest ranked player. At the bottom of each position you will find players who start in place of the recommended players and players ahead of them.

If a player is not mentioned, it means that he is very close to the blurb player, and factors such as injuries to the opponent’s defense or the weather can influence the rankings. Situations involving injuries are also generally avoided, as things usually only become clearer as kick-off approaches. As always, check the weekly PFF fantasy rankings for the most up-to-date information to help you make all your start-sit decisions.

RUNNING BACK

1. Quinshon Judkins, Cleveland Browns

Judkins has spent the season as the Browns’ early-down back, playing at least 60% of the snaps on first and second downs, in short-yardage situations and in goal-line scenarios. Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson both battled injuries in December, with Ford landing on injured reserve. However, that hasn’t pushed Judkins into a bigger role yet. That could change this week as both Ford and Sampson may not play. Sampson was unable to train on Wednesday due to calf and hand injuries.

The State of Ohio product has run the ball at least 14 times in each of the past five games, but has barely been involved in the passing game. However, Judkins caught a pass for 58 yards this past week, so the injuries to the other backs and his big play could lead to more receiving production.

Judkins has averaged 0.4 yards before contact per carry, ranking second among running backs with at least 100 carries. His 3.3 yards after contact per carry ranks ninth. Cleveland has played 25 goal-line plays this season, eighth-fewest in the league. The offensive line and offense in general have also limited Judkins’ fantasy production. His rushing volume and work after contact were enough to put up 12.9 PPR points per game, ranking him 22nd among running backs.

Cleveland faces the Chicago Bears this week, and Chicago has allowed 5.1 yards per carry this season — the third-highest average among defenses — with a poor PFF run defense grade (ninth worst). The Browns have had a rough run-defense schedule thus far, facing only two teams in the bottom 10 in yards allowed per carry and only two teams with a PFF run-defense grade in the bottom 10. The Bears will be their first opponent to qualify at both thresholds.

Judkins is consistently considered a low-end RB2, but he could shine against Chicago’s defense. He’s a high-end RB2 this week.

2. TreVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots
