RB James Conner, Arizona Cardinals
The Run defense of the saints collapsed completely in the play last season and ended the lower three in almost every hasty metric. This is a unit that is very vulnerable to soil attacks.
James Conner has since been arranged sixth in the NFL in the percentage team with a red zone to the team-de go-to option for Arizona when they came up close. Even if Trey Benson eats in his overall workload, it is unlikely that the red zone with high leverage that disappears.
With one of the largest spreads on the slate in a game, the cardinals have to control, many goal line expects opportunities and for the “old reliable” Conner to get the call in a great matchup.
Longshot: RB Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Run defense of the Panthers was terrible last season and ended the last in Rush -Succe percentage by leaving 51% of the runs against them to achieve positive expected points. The gap between Carolina at No. 32 and the next worst team was just as wide as the gap between No. 2 and no. 16-a huge separation that emphasizes how bad this unity was.
And with little done in the low season to solve those problems, the Panthers again project as one of the worst run defenses in the competition, especially in short-yardage and goal line situations.
There is some uncertainty about who gets the Jacksonville goal line, but with Travis Etienne that is used more as a hybrid weapon around the formation, Tank Bigsby looks like the candidate to process that high-delivery ruehes. On +160, Bigsby is a long shot that I want to play against this vulnerable run defense.
