Now the ‘first’ allocation of FA Cup tickets for Manchester City fans at St James’ Park has been made public

It has now been revealed how many tickets Manchester City fans have received as their ‘first’ allocation of tickets for the FA Cup match against Newcastle United.

The match will be played over ten days, with an 8 p.m. kick-off on Saturday, March 7.

Newcastle United will play Man City for a place in the last eight of the FA Cup.

An official announcement from Man City on Wednesday (February 25, 2026) telling Manchester City fans: ‘The Club has received an initial allocation of 4,893 tickets, including 24 wheelchair spaces and a number of tickets for ambulant fans.’

Their club then tells Manchester City fans: ‘Newcastle United is currently liaising with the Safety Advisory Group and the relevant local authorities. Depending on the outcome of these discussions, the initial allocation of 4,893 away tickets may be increased. Further details will be communicated as soon as possible.”

The rules for the FA Cup are that away fans are entitled to 15% of the stadium capacity

So for St James’ Park and its capacity of over 52,000 that equates to around 7,500 tickets.

Whether Manchester City fans would buy that many tickets is highly doubtful.

In the Carabao Cup, the away team is entitled to 10% of the capacity.

Manchester City fans were allocated 4,893 tickets for their Carabao Cup semi-final at St James’ Park last month, but returned a number of blocks of tickets because Man City supporters had not bought them.

A third or more of the tickets were returned, with only around 3,200 Manchester City fans in the SJP for the Carabao Cup semi-final.
