NFL preseason Week 1 Game Summary: Los Angeles Chargers 27, New Orleans Saints 13

2 minutes, 18 seconds Read

Not -Recorded Rookie Cornerback Eric Rogers stole the show in Sofi Stadium.

The Rutgers-product faltered two interceptions for the Los Angeles Chargers, one a pick-six, and did not give any catch on five goals in his cover. He is probably on schedule to achieve one of the highest pff cover figures in the NFL for the season 2025.

Both picks eventually led to touchdowns, and that was the difference in the 27-13 victory of the Chargers on the New Orleans Saints to close week 1.

The Quarterback struggle of the saints came to the spotlight for the first time, in which Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shegh each wanted to mention their business.

Shegh was in the wrong end of Rogers’ Pick-Six, but left a perfect pass in Mason TipTon’s arms waiting for a 54-Yard score. While Rattler remained clean in the sales department, he was on average to throw over 3 seconds and took different bags.

Player of the game

Who else than Eric Rogers? He only became the second cornerback since 2023 to see more than five goals in a pre -season match and not to allow a reception. And not only did he keep the ball out of the hands of the recipients, but he also made two own catches – both impressive displays of reading the eyes of the Quarterback.

Rogers is on schedule to achieve one of the highest pff -covering figures in a pre -season match in several years, was allowed to stand his stamp after final reviews. He left late in the game with a non -specific injury and was seen on crutches in the dressing room.
