The UFC goes back to Rio in October, but it is not for a pay-per-view event.

Rio UFC 283 and UFC 301 has organized in the past two years. This year’s event in “The Marvelous City” will be a UFC fighting evening, on Saturday 11 October in Farmasi Arena.

This event has been rumors since June, but was finally announced on the official social media accounts of the UFC last night (July 30, 2025). Brazilian fans with eagle eyes also noticed a rapidly removed post from Rio’s Vice-Burger with a promo for the event with a little more Swagger.

UFC Fight Night 261 is the first fight evening to be held in Rio since 2015. No main event has yet been unveiled, but the map currently has Brazilian heavyweights Jhonata Diniz and Vitor Petrino, together with the debut of Rio’s own “BJJ Gwoat” Bia Mesquita.

We will keep you informed of additions to the map while we hear them. The UFC certainly has more than enough Brazilian talent to stack the map, but many rising stars (such as the Fighting Nerds) have already been booked for other events, and the promotion tends to save boys such as Charles Oliveira and Paulo Costa for pay-per-views.

Let us know in the comments below who you would like to see fighting in Rio in October!
