Suzuki looks set to finally shake things up in the highly competitive 150-250cc sporty commuter segment. After more than five years with minimal updates, the Gixxer 150 and Gixxer 250 are ready for a complete generational overhaul, with an entirely new platform currently in development.
The Gixxer 150 and 250 series remain Suzuki Motorcycle India’s key locally manufactured products, apart from the V-Strom SX, making them crucial to the brand’s presence in this space. But with rivals from TVS, Bajaj and Yamaha continually raising the bar, the aging Gixxer lineup is starting to feel outdated – something Suzuki is now keen to address.
According to a report, Suzuki is working on the next generation of Gixxer models for both engine displacement classes, internally codenamed XF181 and XF191 for the 150cc range, and XF1C1 and XF1D1 for the 250cc models. All four motorcycles are expected to debut in late 2026, with some variants possibly arriving in early 2027.
The update is expected to go far beyond cosmetic changes. Suzuki will likely thoroughly rework the motorcycles’ mechanical underpinnings, if not move them to entirely new platforms. With color LCDs, TFT displays and inverted front forks becoming more common in this segment, the next generation of Gixxers are also expected to get a significant feature boost.

Visually, a sharper and more modern design is on the agenda. The fully faired Gixxer SF models could draw inspiration from Suzuki’s larger GSX-R superbikes, reflecting the trickle-down styling approach seen across the industry.
While official details remain scarce, one thing is clear: Suzuki is preparing a long-awaited reset for the Gixxer brand to regain lost ground in India’s hotly contested sporty commuter class.
