Newcastle United perspective on other Premier League matches this weekend

7 minutes, 33 seconds Read

Looking at these Premier League matches in this round.

Watch the other matches from Newcastle United’s perspective.

Eddie Howe and his players kick off for their Sunday match away at West Ham at 2 p.m.

This weekend there are seven Premier League games today (Saturday, November 1), then two on Sunday (including NUFCs) and finally one on Monday evening.

As a Newcastle United fan, take a look at this weekend’s other Premier League matches and think about what you would like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.

Saturday November 1

Brighton v Leeds (3 p.m.)

Burnley v Arsenal (3 p.m.)

Palace v Brentford (3pm)

Fulham v Wolves (3 p.m.)

Forest v Man U (3pm)

Spurs vs Chelsea (5.30pm)

Liverpool v Villa (8 p.m.)

Sunday November 2

West Ham v Newcastle (2 p.m.)

Man City v Bournemouth (4.30pm)

Monday November 3

Sunderland v Everton (8 p.m.)

This is what the table looks like on Saturday morning (November 1, 2025) before one of the ten Premier League matches are played this weekend:

My conclusions

Saturday November 1

Brighton v Leeds (3 p.m.)

Brighton have been a bit inconsistent this season, but at home in the league they have managed two wins and two draws. It would have been four home wins if we hadn’t gone ahead in the 97th minute against Fulham and thrown away a two-goal lead against Spurs.

Leeds beat bottom-of-the-table Wolves, but their other three PL away games saw three defeats and eight goals conceded, with losses at Arsenal, Fulham and Burnley.

I would be very surprised if Brighton don’t win by at least a few goals.

Burnley v Arsenal (3 p.m.)

Burnley is doing well and already had 10 points from nine PL games at the end of October. During their last Premier League season two years ago (2023/24), they reached March 2024 and 27 games had passed, with just 13 points.

They have just won their last two games and have only lost one game at home, 1-0 against Liverpool when the referee sent off a Burnley player and awarded the Scousers a penalty in extra time.

Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in six of their seven wins and have been quite functional for much of the time. They did just enough to win, as evidenced by their last two games, both 1-0 away and at home to Palace.

Everyone will be predicting an away win here, but I think if Burnley can find a goal somewhere then hopefully they can get a draw.

Palace v Brentford (3pm)

In the last five weeks Palace won 3-0 at Anfield and beat Liverpool 2-1 at home, while for Palace it could/should have been four or five goals. In the remaining five games in this period, Palace have only beaten Dynamo Kiev, losing to the likes of Larnaca at home and Everton away.

Brentford have not collapsed after losing their manager and several star players, as widely predicted. New manager Keith Andrews is doing a great job and the Bees have won four of their last five games and scored thirteen goals. Their last PL match was a 3-2 win over Liverpool, when the margin of victory should have been bigger.

Any result is possible here. Palace proves a bit unpredictable but still dangerous; the number of matches may have an influence. With Brentford in such good form I think they are a good bet to get something today, perhaps all three points.

Fulham v Wolves (3 p.m.)

Marco Silva was under pressure after losing his last four Premier League games and was fortunate to win against Wycombe on penalties in midweek.

Wolves have made a poor start to the season, but have thrown away late points in three of their last four PL matches. They led against both Spurs and Brighton but conceded late equalizers, while in their most recent PL match they came from two down against Burnley to 2-2 before conceding in the 95th minute.

Wolves lost 4-3 to Chelsea in the League Cup in midweek and if they can find a way to stop leaking so many goals, they may still have a chance to turn their season around.

You’d think Fulham should win this, but in a match where there will certainly be goals, this could be the game that comes Wolves’ way.

Forest v Man U (3pm)

Forest have picked up just one point in their last seven PL matches, while Man U have won their last three, scoring eight goals. So there is only one winner, right?

Well, Forest beat Chelsea in their last home game in the first half and should have been two or three ahead but failed to score and lost 3-0, with Postecoglou immediately sacked.

Dyche then came on to beat Porto 2-0 in the Europa League in Forest’s most recent home game.

If Forest are going to start their season late then you have to think they really need to make the City Ground positive. I think that despite recent wins, Man U have not been particularly convincing and have been very lucky. You can’t imagine Dyche making Forest nice to watch, but they still have pretty much the same players who did so well last season. I think there’s a low-scoring draw or a Forest win today.

Spurs vs Chelsea (5.30pm)

Just like Man U, two more ridiculously overhyped teams every time they string a few results together.

In their last four games, Spurs have lost at home to Villa and away to Newcastle, and they were also very lucky with a goalless draw against Monaco. They won 3-0 at Everton thanks to set pieces and Pickford’s goalkeeping.

Chelsea lost at home to the Mackems last weekend and then beat Wolves 4-3 in the League Cup in the bottom tier of the league.

Another match where any outcome is possible, but I feel like if Spurs can score first, they should be able to win it.

Liverpool v Villa (8 p.m.)

Having lost all their last four Premier League games and six of their last seven games in all competitions, what is happening at Liverpool is downright hilarious. They have conceded 14 goals in their last seven games, including nine in their last four PL matches.

Villa have done more or less the opposite of Liverpool: Emery’s team failed to win any of their first five PL matches and went on to win all the last four. Indeed, Villa won six of their last seven games in all competitions, but bizarrely managed to lose them against Go Ahead Eagles, to avoid a perfect seven in a row.

What a match, a team that has lost six of the last seven against a team that has won six of the last seven.

This becomes even more hilarious when that becomes a statistic of seven defeats in eight for Liverpool and seven wins in eight for Villa.

The reality is that in so many games early in the season, Liverpool and Slot were ridiculously lucky and rarely deserved to win, while Villa had a difficult start to the season due to various factors.

I’ll definitely be betting on Villa tonight and cheering them on if they get all three points. Liverpool then have Real Madrid in midweek before Man City go out in the Premier League. An interesting week lies ahead for Arne Slot and Liverpool and how glorious will it be if/when things go from bad to worse?

Sunday November 2

West Ham v Newcastle (2 p.m.)

The only game that really matters, of course.

Newcastle United are now starting to add goals with 19 in their last eight games in all competitions, compared to just four in their first six games.

Against a West Ham side who have lost all four home games in the PL this season, conceding 12 while scoring just one.

A great opportunity for NUFC to make it six wins from their last seven games and I think Eddie Howe’s team will do that.

Man City v Bournemouth (4.30pm)

Manchester City is nowhere near what it once was and is therefore extremely dependent on Haaland scoring goals.

They’re not bad, but nothing special despite the vast resources put into their team.

In their last eight Premier League games they have drawn one and lost three. The last of these was a 1-0 win against Villa last weekend.

Iraola shows class and thanks to smart recruitment, Bournemouth are second in the table and have not lost in the league since their first match, when Liverpool recorded a late victory at Anfield.

I think Bournemouth will most likely get a draw, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they win.

Monday November 3

Sunderland v Everton (8 p.m.)

It’s the big derby match, The Mackems against The Scouse Mackems, with Jordon Pickford at center stage.

The Mackems have won three and lost one, while the Scouse have won one and lost the other three.

However, on this ’emotional’ evening in the Pickford Mackem derby, I predict a goalless draw and a neutral alignment on Sky Sports, which I may regret.
