Newcastle United fans issued a ‘Do Not Travel’ message after a horrific train incident in Huntingdon

Following the horrific incident in Huntingdon, LNER has issued a ‘Do Not Travel’ message to Newcastle United fans traveling to West Ham, in addition to, of course, any other train passengers hoping to use the east coast rail services.

The LNER statement is below, with the advice:

That latest update was issued at 2:30 am on Sunday morning.

LNER states that the service may be ‘cancelled, revised or postponed’.

It turns out that the advice is not to travel if at all possible, but if you do, to stay check what the situation is.

Good luck to all the Newcastle United fans traveling to the match today, safe travels to all.

Our thoughts are of course with all those affected by what happened on Saturday evening, especially those who were taken to hospital.

Huntingdon Incident – ​​​​Saturday 1 November – Further update at 2.30am

Customers are asked not to travel today, Sunday 2 November, and tickets are valid until Tuesday 4 November.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

We are concerned for everyone affected by the incident which took place on the 1825 service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross on Saturday evening (November 1).

David Horne, Managing Director of LNER, said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this serious incident, and our thoughts are with everyone involved.

“I would like to thank the emergency services for their quick and professional response and the care they provided to those injured. Anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police is urged to contact British Transport Police.

“The safety and well-being of all those affected remain our priority. We will continue to do everything we can to support our customers and colleagues during this difficult time.”
