Err, not entirely, but it is another great signing for WOR Lasses while we land another international to stimulate the team, and apparently she is quite a Finnish !!!
Welcome to The Toon, Oona Sevenius, a fully -fledged Finland International Striker no less! I think most NUFC -Vrouwelijke fans would agree that an area that you can never have too much Strike Power, and it’s great to see the club that continues to add quality to the ranks.
Oona joins the Magpies from the Swedish side FC Rosengard who recently represented Finland in the UEFA Women’s euros.

The 21-year-old came to Rosengard from AC Milan in January on January 25 and made 17 performances last season and scored five goals in all competitions. During her time in Italy she would spend the 2023/24 season on loan at fellow Series A Women Outfit Como.
Oona’s impressive goal record at the start of her career with PK-35 Vantanta and HJK Helsinki, who scored 16 times in 23 games for the latter, earned her compliments as one of the most promising talents of Finland.
At Newcastle United Women, Oona said: “I am really enthusiastic and it’s great to be here. I just can’t wait to get started.
“I have a strong willingness to make a difference, I want to win more than anything, and I always work very hard.
“This is a very historic club, a great shirt to wear, and I am very happy to be wearing it now. I want to get used to this beautiful city and can’t wait to start the season, because the games are what it’s all about.”
Manager Becky Laney said: “Oona is a brilliant addition to our group. At the age of 21 she has already proven that she is able to perform at a top level and that has shown for Finland in the euro this summer.
“She is an explosive forward with physical presence and she has the opportunity to connect the game and create in advanced areas. We look forward to working with her.”
Oona was first called to the Finnish national side on 4one July 2023 and scored a hat trick in a 4-0 win over the Philippines in February 2024. She has since cemented her place in her national team and has now scored 6 times in 27 performances for Finland.
