Alexander Zverev came within two points of winning the US Open in 2020 and made the final of the French Open four years later and Sthis Eason, appeared in the title match of the Australian Open.
Sometimes it wasn’t great to be very honest, but you know, I’m ready, I won in straight sets, that’s the most important thing Alexander Zverev
Despite the fact that he comes close three times, winning his first major, the 28-year-old German world No. 3 with 24 titles are won, not yet fulfilling the potential that he showed early in his career.
“It’s about going the last step. I like to play at Arthur Ashe Stadium. I think it is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the whole world, the largest stadium for us in tennis,” said Zverev about his history of Grand Slam. “It’s about winning the last point in it [finals] For me. I am very hopeful that I can do that this year. “
He has re -enacted his form, which was far below his usual standard for a few months to open his last campaign to break his duck at Grand Slam level.
Zverev played the last game at Arthur Ashe Stadium and rolled over Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo 6-2 7-6 (4) 6-4 in just two hours, 8 minutes by using an aggressive baseline approach and with confidence to process tennis from his opponent.
“Sometimes it was not great to be very honest, but you know, I am ready, I won in straight sets, that is the most important thing,” Zverev said when reaching the second round for the ninth time at Flushing Meadows but admitted:. “There is still much to build, there is much to improve.”
The third seed broke to start the game and ran through the opening set, but as soon as Tabilo settled, he took the game to the German holding serve during the second set and then loses, despite holding a set point.
That was quickly stabbed with a service winner and then the tiebreak went to claim with his first chance. In the third, Tabilo Zvereestil held the tenth and last match when he capitulated the player with a higher ranked.
Next for Zverev is Brit Jacob Fearnley, who beat Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut 7-5 6-2 5-7, 6-7 6-4

Another player who has yet to fulfill his potential at Grand Slam level is Stefanos Tsitsipas who has now deposited the ranking of 3 in the ranking in 2021 to 30.
His best result at Flushing Meadows was the third round, so he will at least want to improve that, and he started well through the French Alexandre Muller 4-6 6-0 6-1 7-6 (5) on Court 7.
With his father now back as a coach after saying goodbye to Goran Ivananevic. But in the first instance the disappointing results seemed to continue when he lost the opening set, but managed to turn the game by averting 12 of the following 13 games to pull ahead.
In the fourth it became a big struggle for the second round place with Tsitsipas who pulled first blood to lead 3-1, but he was immediately broken back. With both players who serve their respective, the game was decided in a tie-break where Muller first blinked, double errors on 4-4 to give Tsitsipas the lead and after two hours, 13 minutes, he claimed the victory on his second match point.
Also because of the 14th -placed American Tommy Paul and the Australian Alex de Minaur, the eighth seed that had few problems with three fixed victories.
Paul defeated the Elmer Moller van Denmark 6-3 6-3 6-1, while the Minaur eliminated his fellow countryman Chris O’Connell, 6-3 6-4 6-4, to claim his 25th hard win of the year.

“I am super happy to be back here in New York. It’s great to start with a victory. It is never easy to play against a colleague Aussie, a fellow partner, but I am happy that I am in the next round,” said the Minaur after the game. “Very happy with the way I play, I put myself in a good position, so hopefully I can be here in New York for a long time.”
Paul was just as happy with his game and stated in his own interview: “I was just happy that I feel good there, I feel great. I have a number of things to tidy up with my game, but I am very, very excited.”
