New York Rangers goalies Thoughts

This Rangers team is not missing thoughts and opinions through the preseason. The Rangers are a difficult team to predict because of how many players have uncertain gifts and futures. That said, the Rangers -goalkeepers feel the easiest group to analyze. Igor Shesterkin is one of the best goalkeepers in the world (if not the best), Jonathan Quick is a historically excellent keeper who holds his last days in the NHL, and Dylan Garand is an up-and-comer who wants to guarantee his place in the future of the Rangers.

Igor Shesterkin Headlines The Rangers Goals

If there was ever a keeper who should become the leader of his team, it is Igor Shestin. He is by far the most valuable player in the team (Sorry Panarin, Fox), and he is the biggest advantage of Rangers every night he plays. That the Rangers essentially went to Henrik Lundqvist to Igor Shesterkin is one of the coolest things I have experienced as a hockey fan. That will never be worried about the Rangers goalkeepers for almost three decades.

Yet the Rangers did not do too much with Skestin in Net. Two Eastern Conference Finals -performances are nothing to roll your eyes to, but the goal is to win everything. According to all the stories, Shesterkin is just as motivated as always, and the defensive game of Rangers is impossible to get worse.

One thing I will look forward to in the coming season is how Sherkin reacts when the defensive game of Rangers has really improved. It may sound like a foolish thought, but when a keeper is used to compensate for horrible play, it becomes its norm. Maybe we see Shesterkin trying to do too much early.

Yet the expectation is and it will always be a great season from Sherkin. I will be disappointed if he is not in the top 3 for the Vezina.

What does Jonathan Quick have about?

I don’t believe in this current iteration of Jonathan Quick. Not at all. Zero percent. He is slow, out of position and just looks in the evening in the evening. The moment the Rangers extended quickly, he still played well, but his game fell completely from a cliff last season and based on his preseason game it doesn’t seem to be getting better.

Both goalkeepers of the Rangers will adapt to the hopefully improved defensive game. My hope is that on average hockey plays quickly, but to be honest, I don’t believe in his ability to do that right now. It is nothing to be ashamed of, because he has had a phenomenal career and deserves every distinction he has received.

My gamble is that the backup is quickly for the full season, but if the team moved to Garand by February, you would certainly not get an argument from me.

Future back -up Dylan Garand?

There is no player that I was more disappointed in the previous season of Dan Garand, which says a lot because the Rangers goalkeepers were not the focus. There was a chance of 0% that he made the Rangers (and a chance of 0% to surpass Jonathan quickly), but he had a big chance to say: “Hey, I am ready for the NHL when the time comes,” and he didn’t.

Given that the Rangers Louis Domingue not replacedGarand will be promoted to the first keeper if one of the Rangers -goalkeepers will be injured, but with less confidence. I strongly believe in looking at Garand that he will have a long NHL career. My career projection for him is a slightly less successful Cam Talbot. Nothing exciting, but gets the job.

Still, for Garand to earn that opportunity, he will have to play better if he gets opportunities.
