It has been a brutal two weeks for the Cincinnati Reds (70-70), because they have lost ten of their last 13 games and their last four series, making them behind the team that will come to Great American Ball Park this weekend. The Reds are confronted on Friday evening with the New York Mets (75-65) in the first game of the series in which the Reds should essentially sweep to stay in the play-off race. It is a struggle for All-Star-Districts in the first match of the series, while David Peterson stands against Andrew Abbott on Friday evening. The first throw is at 6:40 PM Edt.
The Mets come to the city on a mini hot streak, after having gone 6-4 in their last ten games and winning three of their last four series. The Mets wins, because their .761 team Ops is second in the NL behind only the Dodgers, but recently also brought up some of their best pitching prospects to help with the play -off Push.

Start -tarpers
David Peterson
David Peterson, an All-Star in 2025, has a solid season in his fourth full season in the big competitions. He has thrown the most innings of his career so far and has so far selected most batters in his career. Peterson, however, comes from his worst start of the season, so that eight points can go to the Marlins on August 30 in just two innings. This start pushed his era from 3.18 to 3.61. He is not a strikeout world and his running speed is quite low, especially for right-handed batters, but his ground balls is one of the best in the Majors. Peterson has always been a Ground Ball World, who has an average of almost 50 percent GB% every year. This year, however, his ground ball percentage is up to 55.8%.
Peterson dominates the left -handed batters with whom he is confronted. As a Lefty himself, he is not confronted with many of them, but if he does, he limits walks, strikeouts from Hitters and does not allow hits. He throws almost both-zone fastballs and sliding controllers to the left, and this season he has a touch of 38.2% on his slider.

Andrew Abbott
Abbott has struggled lately. In his last four starts, he allowed 11 hits on eight points earned in 23.2 innings. Could it be that he just gets tired and worn out? Abbott surpassed his innings total from 2024 in his most recent start and has now thrown the most innings in his professional career (139.0) in what is now his third season in the Majors.
Abbott is overwhelmingly confronted with right -handed batters, and they also touch him better than left -handed batters. However, he has a strikeout percentage above 20% for both judges and left, while keeping his running speed as low as possible. Despite his struggles, he still only walked four batters in his last four starts and all four of those walks met St. Louis last Saturday.
