Nets’ Noah Clowney visibly larger after reforming the body: ‘Looks great’

Various nets have come to the training camp that visibly looked different, from Day’ron Sharpe and Cam Thomas who have become slimmer to Egor DUMIN who have grown.

But nobody reformed their bodies more than Noah Clowney.

The unilateral big man finally qualifies so big and eventually looks like an adult man instead of a young one.

Clowney packed in the low season of muscles, added the weight that he and the Nets figure will help strengthen the weak parts of his game.

“Yes, [Clowney] Looks great, “said coach Jordi Fernández.” Credit to him and the work he has put all summer. He looks like an adult man just 21.

‘[I’m] Excited to see him play real games. Of course you have to go through training camp and the presidential matches, but he did a great job. His ability to shoot, his size and to get better in playing two feet in the paint, limiting sales and fish better on the edge. So those things are important to him. ‘

The added bulk should help in that goal.

“That has been the whole goal, being a better driver,” said Clowney. “I have to get stronger, I have to be able to drive through contact and be able to explode.”

After he entered the camp a year ago, and said that last season he played at various times between 220 and 225 pounds, Clowney tilted the scales last week with a solidly built 234 pounds.

Physically, he looked more like the Nic Raxton starting center than the Waifish younger who struggled to end last season.

“A lot of [NBA] Players have been best athletes all their lives and when they come to this level, they just think they are going to the edge, jumping and ending. And often they never have to find out, “said Fernández.” Challenging centers in the best competition in the world is not necessarily a good thing.

“Often the best finishers are boys who have never been gifted early, and they had to find a way to play, be better decision makers and end up if you have the advantage. So it is part of the process. As a coach we have to figure that out, so it’s a good challenge. Our players are a good challenge of it. And we are a poor finish team last year.”

That was certainly not helped by the misery of Clowney.

He inherited the Power Forward place largely after Dorian Finney-Smith was traded.

But while the shooting touch of Clowney has helped the floor, he will have to complete his game and do more than camping just in the corner.

Clowney ranked in just the fourth percentile on 2-point shots, per cleaning of the glass.

And his horrible 45.3 percent shot within 10 feet from the edge was the fifth worst in the entire competition among all players 6-foot-7 or larger with at least 50 attempts.

That must improve, just like his rebound.

That is where the added muscle enters.

“Yes, I think it helps. Numbers, the games will tell us what it is, but that is the reality,” said Fernández. “Noah was a good rebounder. Now that he is stronger, he will be a better rebounder. That is my assumption.”

The visible changes in the arms, chest and shoulders of Clowney can make a difference to explode through contact.

Better decision -making of the third -year professional can make it just as much.

“It will be downhill in the transition. It is easy because everyone is not loaded, and it is the easiest way to get there and just play two [feet]”Said Clowney.” I have done a lot of bumps from one [foot]You have a foot in the front, and you have to make a decision and not turn it around. ‘
