Nassourdine Imavov believes that he has made a chance at the UFC Middleweight Championship.
Imavov made the best of his chance in the main event of UFC Paris. He shared the Octagon with Caio Borralho, who had had no defeat in 2015 since his second Pro MMA fight. The Headliner of UFC Paris went the distance and Imavov showed its high level to achieve the unanimous decision victory.
“The Sniper” fights for a potential shot on Khamzat Chimaev’s 185-pound gold. While Imavov brought forward an impressive show, the winner of Reinier de Ridder vs. Anthony Hernandez also to be the next one for a title chance.
As far as Imavov believes, he believes that there is no competition for the number 1 competition in the middleweight (H/T Inappropriate).
“People said he was the best striker in the world against Adesanya and I couldn’t fight him, but I turned him out,” Imavov said during the UFC Paris Post-Fight Presser. “This guy, Caio – I didn’t have to fight him, but I did it. He came from 10 years in a row victories, 16 straight victories, seven in a row in the UFC, and I won every round. Again, I proved that I am the best. For me there is no discussion that I am going to fight for the belt.”
The winning series of Imavov has been expanded to five. His last defeat was back in January 2023 when he suffered a unanimous decision loss for Sean Strickland, who became the UFC Middleweight champion that same year in a shocking upset about Israel Adesanya. Imavov now notices that he is knocking on the door of Chimaev, but the UFC buyer will give him the title shot as the winner of the Ridder vs. Hernandez also supplies fireworks?
