In my message yesterday on the Wild Cards of the US Open Men and Ladies, I noticed that Brandon Holt (USC) was the next player to qualify when someone withdrew and leaned less than 24 hours later, bowed Matteo Berrettini from Italy, Holt Extent and liberated his main kicks. That went to Eliot Spizzirri (Texas), who qualified for the main drawing last year. Spizzirri was the next highest American in the ATP ranking, at 125.
Other top players who have withdrawn over the past two weeks are no. 9 Luna Vujovic from Serbia and 2024 uso Girls Semifinalist Mimi XU. XU also reached the semi -final of the Wimbledon Junior Championships this year. I admit that I have not noticed the import of Maxim MRVA of the Czech Republic in my first review of the US Open Junior Acceptance List. MRVA has not played a Junior event since the Orange Bowl in December and regularly plays challenger events, so that this year has made a semi -final and three quarter -finals.
The USTA announced the Davis Cup team for the second round match of next month with the Czech Republic, with all four of the current top ranking list of Americans named after the team. Although the American team has the better rankings of Singles, the Czech team is formidable and has a real doubles specialist in Pavlasek. As the release mentions, the captain can make three replacements/additions to the team until the day before, and with the conclusion of the US Open just a few days before, it is likely that this will have an impact on who ultimately plays for both teams.

Shelton22, is number 6 in Singles on the heels of winning his first career ATP Masters 1000 singles title last week at the National Bank Open in Toronto. This year he went 32-16 in Singles on tour, including runs to the Australian Open Semifinals and Wimbledon Quarterfinals, and will participate in his second Davis Cup-equal game.
Tiafoe27, is number 14 in Singles and will make his sixth Davis Cup appearance since debuting in 2018. He has reached the US Open Singles Semifinals two of the past three years and was a French open quarter finalist in 2025.
Paul28, is number 16 in Singles and played in 10 Davis Cup tires, where he registered a 5-3 singles record since he debuted in 2020. He reached the quarterfinals at both the Australian Open and the French Open in 2025.

Delray Beach has traditionally delivered a real home advantage for the US in the international team tennis competition. The US Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams are always 5-0 when they participate in the Delray Beach Tennis Center. The American Davis Cup team played for the last time in Delray in 2004 and beat Sweden with Andy Roddick, Mardy Fish and Bob and Mike Bryan. The American Billie Jean King Cup team played a qualification in the Delray Beach Tennis Center in 2023 and wiped Austria behind the local native Coco Gauff – an event that generated nearly $ 1 million for the local economy.
