Mount Waverley Auction supplies $ 2.49 million Family Twist – Realestate.com.au

The house of Mount Waverley built in the 1950s sold for $ 2.49 million after 71 years with one family, ending with a surprise auction twist.

A house in Mount Waverley bought as a country for only £ 250 in the 1950s sold with the same family for $ 2.49 million after 71 years, and the winning bidder turned out to be a secret family friend.

The house with four bedrooms on 4 Park Lane was built by 94-year-old Colin and his father, and became the background of generations of milestones before he went under the hammer on Saturday.

Seven bidders fought for the valued 916SQ M-block before the gavel fell far beyond the price guide of $ 1.8 million $ 1.98 million, but it was only after the sale that Colin’s son Andy discovered that the buyer was a childhood friend who had hidden her identity to ensure that the family reached the full market value.

Why families never leave Melb’s hidden gem

Sue Kelly-Brown from Ray White Judd White Group said that the auction turn was a shock.

“She went there as a child and has good memories of the house,” said Mrs. Kelly-Brown.
“She plans to go back to Melbourne, to renovate cosmetically and to live in it. It was such a nice gesture.”

Andy said the turn left everyone astonished.

The formal lounge and dining zone, with its retro character, has organized countless family gatherings in recent decades.

“It was a big surprise when I had passed on the phone to me and it was our friend Susie on the other side,” he said. “We were just talking a few weeks ago about what we were doing with the house. We love her and we are so happy for her. Our families go far back.”

For Colin, who recently moved to healthcare, the result was the highlight of a lifetime of hard work.

Multiple living spaces offered generations of flexibility, including a family zone filled with natural light.

The kitchen combines practical and space, with a gas hob, breakfast bar and lots of storage.

“He bought the block back for £ 250 in the 1950s,” said Andy.

“He and my grandfather built the house together. My sisters and I grew up watching those who worked so hard to build it with their own hands.”

What made the outcome even more special was Susie’s intention to keep the house.

“She said she won’t get it down, she wants to keep it. That means the world for us,” said Andy.

Loved by the same family for more than seven decades, the house has a deep legacy.

Leafy Gardens and a generous 916SQ M -block made the building a peak in the heart of Mount Waverley.

Auctioners Dexter Prack and Daniel Galea collaborated the crowd and created what Mrs. Kelly-Brown described as “360-degree theater”.

“It was one of those auctions that I will never forget,” she said.

“The family was very emotional, you could feel the connection.

“All children and grandchildren still live in the area, this house has grow generations.”

The new owner, a good family friend, intends to renovate and retain the house instead of beating it.

Three bathrooms, including original retro adaptations, reflect the long history of the house and the evolving needs.
