To keep Augustus interesting, MLB has released a new top 100 ranking order on Monday. With White Sox fans who already think of the next year during the last stage of the regular season, they may be surprised to see who is in and who is out of the new list.
Six made Six Siders MLB’s top 100 prospect catalog for the season.
The latest assessment of MLB The deck shuffles while holding a total of six white SOX in the top 100. (Two new players are added, such as Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero have graduated from prospect status.)
There is plenty to compare between the two qualities, but let’s start with the least surprising changes. Schultz’s fall from in the top quintile to just within the top 10% should not be shocking. He threw modestly in Double-A with a 3.34 ERA but struggled with command (1.59 Whip and 36 walks through 12 starts). His promotion to Triple-A made things worse because he allowed 15 points and eight free walks in 11 1/3 innings and is currently on the injured list. His regression after a premature bump to the knights explains his decrease in projection and value.
Similarly, the production of Colson falsified early in the season (.149/.223/.255 in 94 battleways) justified his position on the list. Although he quickly made up for his Arizona stint (270/.353/.574 in 122 battles) and his MLB hitting, he had tired of a stamp to relegate him. Given his success in the Majors and probability that he will take place out of prospect status, this list will be the last of Colson as a prospect.
Before the season, Braden Montgomery had never played a collection of professional baseball. But the outfielder fleet hit the ground with a cup of coffee on Low-A, dominance at High-A, and now a second half run at Double-A who represents a Rookie arch better than anyone could have hoped. It is not a piece to say that this seasoned young person has played his way in a possible debut from 2026 on the south side.
Just like Braden, Caleb Bonemer had not played Pro -Bal’s wink before this season, but was hemed in the top 100 with a phenomenal season in Kannapolis. After he had been given a demonstrable aggressive assignment for the entire season after being prepared in 2024, he was one of the only reliable attacking staples this year, in which he .275/.401/.437 with 52 RBIs and 67 walks cut. Although Bonemer’s glove needs some work at ShortStop, his field explains third base and he finds out why he gets national attention.
A confusing aspect of the list is the first round of Chicago (no. 10 general) of the design of 2025, Billy Carlson, ranked higher than Bonemer and Smith without having played a single match for an SOX branch. More known for his field field than touching, Carlson’s strong arm and unmistakable skill in shortstop more than his attack, which needs an overhaul. Even without knowing his skills, Carlson’s debut on the top 100 list should cause many eyebrows.
