Former Pakistan-skipper Misbah-Ol-Haq has praised ABHISHEK Sharma after the stunning knock of the young Indian opener in the super 4 collision of the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai.
As 172 chased, Abhishek illuminated the international stadium of Dubai with a brilliant 74 out of just 39 balls. He tore in the Pakistani tempo attack of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, as well as Spinner Abrar Ahmed, to set the tone for India’s six-wicket victory on Sunday 21 September.
Misbah was particularly impressed by Abhishek’s calm in such a high -pressure game. “The skill level and the calmness he showed were remarkable. Even in his first game against Pakistan, he was not under pressure. Did he look like he was playing in the nets,” he said.
The former captain pointed out how Abhishek not only scored runs, but also managed to put pressure on the most important bowlers of Pakistan. “What is striking is that he is always the most important bowlers looking, putting them under pressure. That is what the opposition really restless,” added Misbah.
Misbah explained the approach of Abhishek and noted that it was not just blind. “The most important weapon for a fast bowler is the hard length. But if there is a width, you will be punished. Shaheen tried those hard lengths and Abhishek, she respected. But when the ball was short or full, he hit it,” he said.
