What a time Oscar Bonavena Is now.
The Millionaire Trotter is a superstar on the track and literally a stud.
This month, Oscar Bonavena was born a father for the first time, with his first foal, a mare called Ivy, three weeks ago.
“She has a little position and a beautiful temperament and perfect confirmation,” says her on Matamata -based breeder and owner Rosemary Tims.
Now Oscar, a nine -year -old, has again served Ivy’s Dam Molly Belle, only one day after his epic victory in the group 3 of Sunday The Elite Stride DG Jones Memorial Banks Peninsula Trotting Cup. It was his 36th career success.
“I just hope that the run did not get too much out of him,” laughs Tims.
Molly Bell was a Dual Race winner before he retired in 2022.
Ivy is her second foal. Her first is one What the hill Colt called Peria Hillz Luck.
So why did TIMS decide to send Molly Belle to Oscar Bonavena in the first place?
“We worked a two -year -old in Matamata and Oscar last year and I liked the appearance of him and thought she should go (Molly Belle) to him,” says Tims.
Now she can only hope that Ivy inherits part of Oscar’s assets.
“We will race her herself and if she is half as good as her father, we would be more than happy.”
In the past 25 years, Tims estimated that she and husband Brian have bred 17 foals. Many of them have had the ‘happiness’ name, including 11-race winner Maddisonz Luck.
Another of her Rosemaryz Luck race was not a winner on the track, but she has been a great breeding mood that produce the will of several group 1 winner Majestuoso (27 wins) and Castana (10 victories) and Romeo Foxtrot (12 wins).
As far as Oscar is concerned, the regime of a racing horse and a stallion works clearly – his big target is the $ 400,000 Renwick Farms Dominion Trot on Addington on Cup Day (Tuesday 11 November) where he is now a favorite of $ 2.80.
