Saratoga Springs, NY – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will recognize the courage and sacrifice of all service members in the past and present on military appreciation on Saratoga Race Course. The annual event will be presented on Thursday 14 August by Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady.
All veterans and service members receive free access with the correct military identification. NYRA will also make free tickets available Vettix.orgThese tickets offers events for veterans and military staff in active service.
“NYRA is honored to pay tribute to our courageous veterans and active service members on the day of military appreciation, which has become an important annual tradition here in Saratoga,” said Nyra President and CEO David O’Rourke. “We look forward to sharing a pleasant and festive day to celebrate all those who protect our liberties.”
The fifth race of the day is mentioned in honor of the day of the military appreciation and pays tribute to all veterans and active service members. Special recognition will be given to representatives of the various branches of the US Army.
The third race of the afternoon is named after the Wesley community, a senior living campus in Saratoga Springs, who is home to dozens of veterans who will be honored and recognized for their service. Among the veterans is the 98-year-old Lou Bacchi who served in the Second World War with American naval groups in the Pacific Theater. Bacchi and members of his Squadron staffed a tugboat to carry out ships to carry out ships stranded on sandbanks on the Philippines Islands.
Prior to the third race, Bacchi will ring the ceremonial bell seven times in the circle of the winner to post for 17 minutes to indicate when the horses entered the paddock.

Special recognition in the afternoon will be given to the 88-year-old Korean war veteran Abram (Abe) Seeberger of nearby Schodack, NY.
A high school student in the 1950s left Seeberger East Greenbush High School before graduating to hire himself in the army. During his time in the army from 1955 to 1958, he served as a specialist-3 that was assigned to Detachment A of the 16th Ordnance Company, the eighth army in Taejon, South Korea. He and his unit made American soldiers needed to defend themselves against a North Korean invasion. He later received the National Defense Service Medal and the New York State Cold War Certificate.
Last June – 70 years after leaving high school to become a member of the army – Seeberger received his diploma from the East Greenbush Central School District as part of Operation Recognition. Operation Recognition is a service program for veterans of the state of New York with which veterans who have left high school can receive their diploma.
NYRA will also Een Roland “Bud” Abare, a veteran in Vietnam who served with the Navy in 1965 and served as Medic from 1967 to 1968 as Medicine with the 1st Navy Division. Abare was an active member of the Boght Community Fire District in Colonie, NY, where he was placed in the first class of paramedics for 50 years.
Abare’s husband, Donna, is the current president of the Blue Star Mothers Chapter NY2, a non -profit volunteer wound organization that will share information about her mission on the day of military appreciation.

Blue Star Mothers Chapter NY2 sends more than 1,000 care packages annually to local service members, veterans in need and service members at Fort Drum. Blue Star Mothers consists of women whose children currently serve or have served honorably in the army.
The at ease will be in the spotlight on the day of the military appreciation. The non-profit organization founded, links the non-profit organization dogs from hiding places with earning veterans and first responds. In addition, Operation at Avery offers resources such as free therapy dog support, which ensures long -term help for the nation and its community heroes.
Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady will present operation at ease with a donation to support his work.
A memorable line -up of activities for the day of military appreciation, starts at 12:40 pm with the national anthem performed by Staff Sgt. Frankie Aisporna from West Point. NYRA employees who are veterans or active members of the military or national guard will be recognized during this time.
The 42nd Infantry Division Brass Quintet, based in New York, will perform trackside in the afternoon.
Military Appreciation Day will also contain a working replica of a Saratoga campaign cannon from 1777 that will be part of the 250th commemoration of the “Henry Knox Noble Train of Artillery.” From December it will track the route that was taken in 1775 from Fort Ticonderoga along Lake George and the Hudson River Corridor, then in Massachusetts to Boston in March 2026. The artillery that was delivered in March 1776 in March 1776 in March 1776, the Britten forced the Britten since the EVacuation. The cannon will be shown in collaboration with Saratoga County and the Saratoga 250 Commission.
