As we approach the halfway point of the January transfer window, Premier League clubs across the country are desperate for essentials in recent weeks.

While runaway leaders Arsenal may be looking to strengthen their lead in the race to claim a first domestic crown since 2004, the likes of West Ham are looking to bring in some vital reinforcements.

Likewise, with the 2026 World Cup fast approaching, many of England’s biggest superstars are looking to cement their place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for North America.

With a number of places reportedly still up for grabs, it is suggested that a number of England’s top prospects are looking to complete a return to the Premier League in January.

Ivan Toney – Al-Ahli

Completing a controversial move to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2024 when he agreed to a game-changing move to Middle Eastern side Al-Ahli, many believed Ivan Toney had accepted an early end to his England career.

Although they are still scoring goals in Saudi Arabia, it is suggested that many Premier League clubs are keen to bring the former Brentford captain back to England this month.

Although the 29-year-old reportedly earns a weekly salary of £400,000, it is suggested that Toney is open to a quick return to the Premier League and is keen to secure a place in Tuchel’s World Cup squad.

As well as speculation about a possible move to Everton, there is also speculation that under pressure Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is dreaming of a reunion with his former striking superstar.

With compatriot Dominic Solanke drastically failing to find his feet in North London and dealing with a long-term ankle problem, Air sports reported in November that Tottenham have already had initial discussions with Toney’s entourage.

Tammy Abraham-Besiktas

While history may be littered with English superstars who have failed to find their footing after completing heavyweight European switches, Tammy Abraham has certainly made an impression during his time on the continent.

Although the former Chelsea youngster only arrived at Turkish side Besiktas this summer, Abraham has scored 11 goals in all competitions and has been linked with a potential shock to England’s return.

The 28-year-old has not earned a senior international cap for the Three Lions since June 2022 and is reportedly open to a return to the Premier League after leaving Chelsea for Italian giants Roma four years ago.

Unai Emery enjoyed a sensational season-long loan spell at Villa Park during the 2018/2019 season, during which he scored 26 Championship goals, and is keen to bring the XI cap international back to the Midlands this month.

With the former PSG boss reportedly making a specialist number nine his number one priority in the coming weeks, The Telegraph report that Emery has determined that Abraham is a perfect candidate.

Conor Gallagher – Atletico Madrid

As well as Villa’s reported interest in bringing Abraham back to the Midlands this month, the Besiktas marksman is not the only England international to attract interest from the Villa Park hierarchy.

It is suggested that Conor Gallagher is keen on a quick return to the Premier League this month, The times reported on Monday that Villa have already opened talks with Atletico Madrid over a possible deal.

While Gallagher may have played a regular role in Diego Simoene’s plans since arriving in the Spanish capital in August 2024, the 25-year-old has failed to hold down a regular spot from the start.

With reports in the past week that Atletico could be willing to cash in on the former Chelsea star before the January transfer window comes to an end, Gallagher certainly has no shortage of suitors.

Although reports over the past week have suggested that Tottenham are closely monitoring Gallagher’s situation, it has been suggested that Villa are firmly in the driver’s seat.
