Allegedly the Dallas Mavericks Veteran Watch Dante Exum want to re-sign, but they have to create some CAP space to offer the former first Rounder a new deal.
Mavericks acquired Olivier-Maxence Prosper in 2023
NBA Insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer It reported on Wednesday that the MAVs “have performed their efforts to create the required schedule space to complete the signing of” EXUM, and Dallas is “aimed at finding a new home via trade” for Swingman Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
Prosper was generally selected 24th by the Sacramento Kings in the 2023 design before being traded to the MAVs during the concept evening. The 23-year-old has since struggled to earn minutes in Dallas under head coach Jason Kidd.
In 92 games (five starts) with the Mavericks he took an average of 3.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 10 minutes per match while he shoots 39.6% out of the field and 26% from 3-point territory.
Prosper will probably see even less playing time during the coming season after the arrival of number 1 General Pick Cooper Flagg, who also plays the small forward position.
Dante Exum has become an effective role player for MAVS
EXUM, the number 5 overall choice in the NBA design of 2014, spent the first seven years of his professional career at the Utah Jazz and Cleveland Cavaliers, but he could not settle as a reliable rotation player.
He played two seasons in Europe from 2021-23 and then returned to the United States during the low season of 2023. Injuries also hindered the development of EXUM earlier in his career and continued to influence his second NBA stint, which limits a total of 75 performances in the past two seasons.
EXUM has proven to be an effective role player for the Mavericks when healthy, on average 8.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 19.5 minutes per match, with a shooting split of 51/47/76.
In 20 games (13 starts) with the MAVs this season, on average 8.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 18.6 minutes per game while he shoots 47.8% and 43.4% of deep.
Exum’s return critically in the midst of the absence of Kyrie Irving
Maintaining the exum is crucial for a MAVS team plagued by injuries. The Flagg is expected to be the primary ball handler of Dallas, while Star Point Guard Kyrie Irving is recovering from a torn ACL.
Big Man Dereck Lively II also underwent an operation on the right foot injury that limited him to 36 games (29 Starts) in the 2024-25 season. The 21-year-old is expected to be ready for training camp.
Dallas used 47 different starting line-ups last season, bound by the fourth most by each team, because starters were first followed in 1970-71. The mavs missed a combined 363 competitions, almost double from a year ago.
Former Los Angeles Lakers -star Anthony Davis suffered from his Mavericks debut in the third quarter and only played 48 possessions with Irving.
