Mauricio Ruffy has long been seen as a very fun lightweight prospect in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. However, after his loss to Benoit Saint Denis, some began to lose faith in the idea that he could get the job done over some of the division’s better fighters. On Saturday evening, however, he silenced many of those doubters.

Ruffy did this by finishing Rafael Fiziev in perhaps the best win of his career to date. He knew he faced a tall task, but instead of collapsing on himself, he adapted to his surroundings and made the necessary adjustments to win the fight.
In his post-fight interview, Ruffy said the following about potentially running for the White House this summer.
Ruffy shows interest in the UFC White House appearance
“Hunter (Campbell), Dana White, what do you think about putting me in the White House?” Ruffy said in Portuguese in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. “You can put me against Paddy Pimblett or Conor McGregor. That’s for sure: I want Conor McGregor. I think I’m a lot better than Michael Chandler versus Conor McGregor.”
