Russell Martin has set all his sights on silverware with Rangers, after they started their Scottish League Cup campaign with a 4-2 victory over Alloa Athletic in the last 16.
Martin made 10 changes from the team that was 2-1 defeated by Viktoria Plzen in a midweek Champions League qualifying match for the visit of their opponents on two after-row.
Nedim Bajrami placed the Glasgow Giants Vooruit with an excellent 13th minute more open, although Joe Rothwell spent his own net to level the scores in the 25th minute.
Rothwell took care of his free kick by Emmanuel Fernandez for 2-1, and when Cammy O’Donnell was punished for handball after a VAR review, James Tavernier converted in the 67th minute of the penalty spot.
Alloa refused to lie down when the Tap-in from Scott Taggart provided a grandstand finish, but it was Findlay Curtis who hit the sixth goal to seal the victory for the winners of the 28 times competition cup.
After the game, Martin said: “We scored four goals, we should have scored more, but I am happy that we got boys on the field for the first time.
“With 10 changes it will not look as smooth and clean as it should, but so many of them will be in a better place than in the beginning.
“Today was sometimes frustrating, but we are ready and boys have had valuable minutes. It is my job to always want more and demand more. We want to win trophies this season, and this is a great opportunity for us to do that.”

The Martin team still has to win this season in the Scottish Premiership and plays 1-1 draw with Motherwell and Dundee.
They welcome Club Brugge at Ibrox for the first stage of a Champions League play-off draw on Tuesday, with a trip to St. Mirren planned for next Sunday.
Martin hopes that reinforcements will be on the road, which confirms that Brentford left back Jayden Meghoma is a player they would like to sign on loan.
“Jayden is a player we know from Southampton. He spent a year with us as a young boy, who trains every day. He understands the work, he is a top talent, played for England at all youth levels,” said Martin.
“So he is a player we know and like, and hopefully he will be a Rangers player at some point, and you know that when he is.”
Meghoma could come in as a replacement for Jefte, who is ready to join Palmeiras in his home country of Brazil for £ 6 million.
Martin said the kick -off earlier: ‘It probably looks that he will be on the way and when he goes, he goes with the best wishes of everyone.
“If it does not happen for whatever reason, he will be welcomed. We would not let Jefte go if we had no plans to ensure that we do not fail there.”
