Manchester United have a number of talented youngsters making waves at Carrington.
Much has been written about the enormous potential of JJ Gabriel and the silky feet of Shea Lacey. United are equally blessed in defense when it comes to emerging prospects.
Recently, The Peoples Person published a report claiming that 17-year-old centre-back Jayden Ngwashi, who has drawn comparisons to Marc Guehi, is firmly on the radar of first-team decision-makers.
15-year-old goalkeeper Darlington Osuchukwu is also highly rated at United.
He has already been called up to the Spanish Under-17 team and was also on the bench for the Red Devils’ Under-18 team.
Athletic Club wants Osuchukwu
According to TransfersOsuchukwu is considered “one of the most promising goalkeepers in world football.”
Osuchukwu joined United from Spanish club Gazte Berriak almost three years ago. It is suggested that his past in the Basque Country has put him on Athletic Club’s radar.
The Spanish newspaper reports that the profile of the young goalkeeper fits Bilbao’s transfer strategy.
United view Osuchukwu as one of their “best assets for the future”, making any negotiations over his transfer difficult for Athletic. The La Liga team, meanwhile, plans to offer him a clearer path to senior football.
United were criticized for giving up their former youth jewel
At the start of this week, the Premier League giants were criticized for their treatment of Alvaro Carreras.
United signed the Spaniard from Real Madrid’s youth academy in 2020. Despite a number of promising loan spells, Carreras was not given a chance in the first team.
“Initially his career was quite good. He went on loan to Preston and got good reviews, and (then) United gave up on him and sold him to Benfica for a small fee,” said Piotr Sadowski, the club’s former scout.
The 22-year-old returned to Real last summer after earning big money and has now established himself as Xabi Alonso’s left-back, calling into question United’s judgement.
