Mark Cuban makes his clippers position clear in the midst of Kawhi Leonard Endorsement Scandal

While the clippers became the center of the basketball universe on Wednesday about accusations that they turn the salary limit, a former NBA majority owner is behind the team.

Hours after Pablo Torre reported over his podcast that Clippers owner Steve Ballmer reportedly worked around the cap with a marketing agreement of $ 28 million for Kawhi Leonard, former Maverick’s head Mark Cuban, not only supported Ballmer, but said he did nothing wrong.

“I am on Team Ballmer,” wrote Cuban on X. “As much as I wanted them to bypass the salary cap, First Steve is not so stupid. If he tried to feed KL -money, knowing what was at stake personally, and his team, do you think the company would let go bankrupt?

Torre reported on Wednesday that Leonard received a four-year-old deal (from 2022-25) with Aspiration, a Ballmer-stundled Sustainability Startup that went bankrupt earlier this year. The co-founder of the company, Joe Sanberg, was arrested for alleged wire fraud. The podcaster found in bankruptcy that the clippers and KL2 Aspire – Leonard’s LLC – belonged to creditors of Aspiration.

A former aspiration employee told Torre that Leonard’s Deal was with the company to “circumvent the salary limit.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the NBA confirmed in a statement to the position that it is investigating the case.

Cubaan kept saying that he believed that the clippers, who had a sponsorship agreement with aspiration, were being scammed.

“They concluded a sponsorship agreement of $ 300 million in 2021 with the clippers,” wrote Cuban. “That is a big problem. The better the team does, the more value the sponsorship has. It is actually completely logical that if they stole money from investors and want the clippers to succeed, why not give stolen money to keep their best player? It is sad that sad that @Pablotorre Did not take the time to find out how these scamers worked out their scam. The idea that the standard is ballmer is that the villain will fall back. ‘

Cuban then said that he would be ‘happy’ to discuss his thoughts further after Torre asked him to appear on his podcast.

The clippers, shared in a long -term statement on multiple points of sale, denied the allegations that they deliberately worked around the cap.

“Neither the clippers nor Steve Ballmer bypassed the salary cap,” the team said. “The idea that Steve has invested in Aspiration to Leonard’s money in Leiden is absurd. Steve has invested because the co -founders of Aspiration presented themselves as committed to doing their customers while they protect the environment.”
