The four-time overall champion held off an Austrian attack for his second victory of the season, adding to his triumph in the opening giant slalom in Sölden, Austria. Odermatt moved closer to half a century of World Cup victories and claimed his 47e title at this level.
The 28-year-old Odermatt delivered a relaxed, flowing performance in the first half of his run before losing some form towards the bottom. But the reigning Super G World Champion kept his cool and sent him to the top of the leaderboard with a time of 1:7.70.
Odermatt beat Vincent Kriechmayr into second place by 0.08 seconds, while world giant slalom champion Raphael Haaser made it an Austrian 2-3.
All eyes were on Norwegian speed star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde as he returned to international competition after a break of almost two years.
Kilde took a courageous first step 684 days after a horror crash on the Wengen descent in January 2024.
The two-time Olympic medalist passed his first test with flying colors as he expertly navigated the corners to finish 24th, 1.25 seconds off the pace.
At the bottom of the track, his fiancée and American superstar Mikaela Shiffrin looked on with pride and relief as he crossed the finish line unscathed. A visibly emotional Shiffrin wiped away tears of joy before hugging Kilde moments later.
Odermatt returns to giant slalom action on Friday for a shot at the double here at Copper Mountain.
