Maple Leafs’ Bubble Forwards can or will be traded 2025-26

Maple Leafs’ Bubble Forwards can or will be traded 2025-26

2 minutes, 17 seconds Read

As the training camp approaches, the Toronto Maple Leafs have a quiet competitive group of attackers in the hope of getting larger roles. These are not the usual headliners -these are the “bubble” players who have shown skill flashes but have not yet protected consistent NHL -time. This season, some could arise as real difference makers.

Easton Cowan is one name that generates Buzz. A striking in Junior Hockey, Cowan’s work ethics and offensive instincts have made an impression on scouts and insiders in Maple Leafs. The challenge is the jump from Junior to the NHL: the pace, physicality and the grinding are all new. Although some believe that he has to start with the Marlies in the AHL to develop safely, others may see the potential that he has an immediate impact, possibly even in the top six.

In the meantime, his name comes up in almost every important trade rumor when the Leafs are involved. Why? Because he is the prospect that other teams would watch.

Max Domi brings proven chemistry next to Auston Matthews. With Mitch Marner gone and other pieces that do not have as many elite skills, the Leafs will ask for much more from Domi this season. Domi stepped in last year and helped Toronto opponents 23–13 to beat on even strength. He has to do even more this year.

If he can play smart and energetic hockey, Domi can again make an important contribution alongside Matthews.

Nick Robertson Trade Talk Maple Leafs

Nicholas Robertson recently signed a new deal and avoided a hearing for arbitration. He is a bubble player because he is still being thrown into a study interview, even after signing. In many ways it feels like writing on the wall with this attacker, who, according to many, never get a fair chance to contribute. Others say he didn’t deserve it.

His target score per 60 minutes suggests that he could effectively produce if he got more responsibility. Can he be one of the documents that occur when an attack is needed? Time will learn it.

Will these players seize their chances?

Cowan, Domi and Robertson can all be players who either do not see much ice age or are actually trading this season. Whether they play crucial roles on the ice or are used to make grid changes and add pieces, can still be seen. If they get a chance and seize those opportunities, it can be a long year for one or all three. If they struggle early or do not run when they get the ball, the 2025-26 season is perhaps the last time they fit as members of the Maple Leafs.
