Kape will headline Saturday’s UFC Vegas 112 against Royval in a pivotal flyweight bout. The winner of the fight could get the next title shot against new champion Joshua Van.
Going into the fight, Kape is a huge betting favorite, and he’s confident he’ll prove why. Not only does he expect to beat Royval, but he also believes he will use Royval to get a statement victory.
“Let’s look at it this way: Brandon Royval defeated Brandon Moreno. Brandon Royval defeated Tatsuro Taira. He defeated him,” Kape said at UFC Vegas 112 media day. “He not only won, he beat him. On Saturday night I will make Brandon Royval look easy, style him, stop him. Why can they deny me? They can’t deny.”
“He beat the contender, and I just beat the guy who beat you. So there are no more questions. There’s no more talking and I’m just going to prove that I’m the man. I’m the fighter with the best style to be champion. I’m the fighter this division needs.”
While Alexandre Pantoja could get an immediate rematch, he may need some time off to recover. So Kape believes he can secure his next title shot with a statement victory over Royval at UFC Vegas 112.
