Manchester United are reportedly prioritizing the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, the Spanish newspaper reports Transfers.
The Red Devils have wasted a huge amount of money on transfers over the past decade; As a result, they have gone from one of the Premier League title contenders to a struggling side.
However, things appear to have improved in this regard since INEOS took over the football side of proceedings. Last year they bought Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee.
Although Zirkzee and Ugarte have yet to find their feet in the Premier League, the other three have proven to be successful signings.
This summer, Man Utd bought Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens, and all four have improved Ruben Amorim’s team.
With the January window fast approaching, Man Utd have already started exploring options to further strengthen the squad and help Amorim take the club forward.
Camaaviga to Man Utd
Now, Transfers states that after strengthening their front line in the last transfer window, United are looking to strengthen the engine room next year and have identified Camavinga as a ‘priority target’.
With the player still having four years left on his current contract, Los Blancos are in no rush to cash in on him. However, they are willing to sell him if they receive an offer of around £70 million and United are willing to match that figure.
Camavinga likes to be deployed in the double pivot role in midfield, but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. Furthermore, he can provide cover in the left back position if necessary.
He is quick on the ground, technically sound, can dribble past opposing defenders in tight spaces and is efficient in defensive contributions.
The 22-year-old is a very talented player and has the potential to become a world-class midfielder in the future. However, he has had fitness issues in recent years and United must take that into account before securing his services.
Still, it will be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford club ultimately makes a concrete approach to purchasing him next year.
