Manchester United and Arsenal are eyeing a move for Levante’s highly-rated Cameroon international centre-forward, Etta Eyong, according to Ben Jacobs.
Eyong is one of the brightest emerging young talents in Spain. He joined Villarreal in the summer of 2024 and showed remarkable goalscoring ability despite playing second fiddle to Thierno Barry, who left for Everton.
He recorded an impressive goal contribution rate with 25 goals in just 30 appearances for the Yellow Submarines, a record that attracted interest from several clubs before he joined Levante last summer.
Since his move to the Valencia side, the Cameroonian forward has scored six goals and provided three assists, the most goal involvement of any player in the squad.
His productive form has attracted the interest of several clubs. Renowned transfer expert Ben Jacobs cclaims Man Utd and Arsenal have set their sights on Eyong for a potential summer move.
The seven-cap Cameroonian international is currently unsettled at Levante, who are pushing for his departure after receiving a bid worth more than £26 million from Russian side CSKA Moscow. Jacobs adds.
However, according to the report, Eyong is refusing to move to the Russian league, which appears to be a boost for the Red Devils and the Gunners in their search for the prolific striker.
Productive progress
Following his refusal, the transfer expert adds that interest in the youngster is now emerging before the summer, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Fulham and Everton also showing interest in signing him.
In addition to scoring ability, winning matches in the Premier League is an important attribute, given the physical nature of the football on display. It is probably one of the many reasons why the African striker is interesting for United and Arsenal.
The Levante forward’s 50 percent success rate in the ground game is a vast improvement on what United fans have seen from Benjamin Sesko (39.0%). Joshua Zirkzee (41.0%) and Bryan Mbeumo (Matheus Cunha (45.0%)) this campaign, with only his compatriot Bryan Mbeumo recording more (60).
While Viktor Gyökeres records a duel success rate of 50%, Gabriel Jesus’ 31.5% is also insufficient, making Eyong a good fit for Arteta’s high-pressure side.
He also scores highly in other facets of the game, such as successful passes (69.2%), accurate long balls (63.6%) and an XG of 7.31 according to FOTMOB.
With Levante already considering a £26 million bid, interested clubs could sign him for a significant sum without breaking the bank.
