Malcolm Brogdon has rejected other lovers for ‘Real Shot’ in the title with Knicks

Malcolm Brogdon said he had many other opportunities in the free desk before signing a non-godded deal to add to the Knicks this season.

Despite the lack of certainty, the point guard said that the move to the garden was easy after a tough last season with Washington.

“In my 10th year I went into a good organization that competes and tried to win a championship,” said Brogdon after the training on Sunday. “I had that in Milwaukee, and in Boston I really had that. There is a real shot here.”

And under the main reasons that is the case, because the Knicks want to build on a season in which they have reached the final of the Eastern Conference, the player that Brogdon is expected to make a backup: Jalen Brunson.

“Everything that can take the pressure from Jalen is the big goal in the future with this team,” said Brogdon. “That is what I want to do this year: take the pressure on both sides of the ball – and everyone else.”

Brogdon comes to the Knicks and is limited last season to 24 games with the wizards, partly due to a left ankle injury. He also made a career-stretched 29 percent of his 3-Pointers with humble Washington.

And he played the previous season in just 39 games with Portland after his only season with the Celtics, when Brogdon was named the sixth man of the year of the competition.

He will be 33 in December, so the Knicks hope that he can stay healthy and reach his earlier production.

“The last three years I have had three different systems, different playing styles and different coaches,” said Brogdon. “I think that gives me a head start on other new boys who come here, are able to adjust quickly. I think that is what this competition is all about: who can adapt the fastest.”

Knicks coach Mike Brown praised Brogdon’s ‘Steadiness’.

“Especially because we throw a lot of new things at the group, he takes it in pass,” said Brown. “He is good on both sides of the ball. You feel his experienced presence, especially as a man who has been in many different situations.”

Although he had no guaranteed deal, Brogdon clearly did not get to the Knicks without a strong belief that he would end up on the Roster. That trust remains in training camp.

“I come here with the expectation to make the team,” said Brogdon. “I feel what I bring to the table, everything I have to offer, this team can help to get the bump over the coming year. The decision is outside of my control. I know I can help this team.”

As Stefan Bondy van de Post reported, the presence of Brogdon, together with Landry Shamet and Garrison Mathews, also means on non-godaded contracts-in combination with the knicks that are hard covered with the second apron, means that the team can only keep one veteran without a trade to create space.

Brogdon said on Sunday that he was in “Talks for a while” with the Knicks before he signed.

“I was really ready to be on the knicks,” said Brogdon. “It is a privilege to turn on this sweater and compete with this team, especially with where they are and the year where they came from. I didn’t want to be anywhere else.”

And he believes that his ability to do many things on the field will give him a place.

“This is a selection that in the past needs more ball dealers and more makers, more versatile players who can handle the ball,” said Brogdon. “I think I will bring that. I can help guard. I am a Swiss pocket knife in many ways and have many strengths.”

For now he faces Brunson during the camp and looks forward to working with him as soon as the season starts.

“He is an excellent player,” said Brogdon. “A superstar in this competition.”

The Knicks left for Abu Dhabi and Brown on Sunday afternoon that they would keep the schedules of the players in mind while preparing for the first two prescription season matches of the team against the 76ers on Thursday and Saturday in Etihad Arena on Yas Island after the long flight.

“One thing we can try to do is when we land, we don’t want guys to sleep,” said Brown after Sunday’s practice. “We go to the hotel, hang out a bit and then we will practice strategically at a certain time to keep their bodies well.”

The Knicks are planned to land around 3 p.m. in Abu Dhabi, which is eight hours before New York, then a light practice.

“We want to make sure they stay up,” said Brown.

Brown said he had experience with NBA teams to China with both LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
