There is a new starting center in the bay.
The Golden State Warriors made a late Splash this season and agreed to bring in free agent center Al Horford for a multi -year contract, ESPN’s Shams Charania announced on Sunday.
Horford, a five-fold all-star, spent seven of his last nine seasons at the Celtics and served as an important contribution to the NBA Championship campaign of the franchise in 2023-24.
The 39-year-old veterinarian is going to reinforce his 19th season with hope of strengthening an outdated Warriors selection by a 37-year-old Stephen Curry, 36-year-old Jimmy Butler and the 35-year-old Drayond Green-Dat Gangange to take advantage of the closing championship window.
The 6-foot-9Center was high on the Golden State shopping list on its way to a free desk after the Kevon Looney Center for a long time left for the Pelicans.
According to ESPN, Horford was one of the few free agents who are awaiting a resolution for contract negotiations between the Warriors and limited free agent Jonathan Kuminga – a standstill that delayed potential editions outside the season.
Kuminga can either sign a multi -year deal worth around $ 50 million or agree to accept the qualifying offer of a year of $ 7.9 million.
Horford was verbally committed to Golden State on Sunday, with the two parties still ironing the financial details of the multi -year Pact.
The big man weighed for Golden State versus retirement, and eventually registered for a few years on hardwood.
Horford average 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 60 games (42 starts) last season.
He shot 36.3 percent from outside the arc at 5.2 attempts per match and, in each of his last three seasons, has removed more than 100 3-Pointers-as additions to the divided attack that Golden State pioneered.
