The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister for Planned Caste Welfare, Nagar Singh Chauhan, claimed on Saturday that brokers are active in the state for Anganwadi jobs under the Women and Child Development department in exchange. The minister made the allegations in a self -recorded video that was placed on social media, where he warned candidates against falling prey to such offers.
Chauhan claimed that some individuals attracted people with promises to secure positions such as Anganwadi employees and helpers in exchange for bribes. He suggested that officials within the department may be involved in the alleged scam.
“The Alirajpur district witnesses such things and various people try to become brokers. I feel that some officers and employees of the department are involved. It is said that if you pay a certain amount, you will get a job in Anganwadi. I have received many such complaints,” said Chauhan.
He insisted on applicants to not give anyone money and to ensure that the recruitment process would remain on merit. “I want to rely on all applicants, sisters and daughters who do not pay anyone a single rupid. Only those with good points are appointed as the Anganwadi posts,” he added.
The current recruitment drive, under the Women and Child Development department, is intended to fill 19,500 posts, including 2,027 Anganwadi employees and 17,477 helpers throughout the state.
Responding to the video of the minister, the opposition congress took out the government led by BJP. Opposition leader Umang Singhar said: “Now even the BJP ministers that deals are concluded for Anganwadi agreements. Nagar Singh Chauhan has admitted that brokers and government officials claim to get people who are gained in exchange. This is embarrassing.”
Singhar added: “It is shocking that this happens in Alirajpur, the neighboring district of women and minister of women and child Development Nirmala Bhuria. If this is the situation there, the serious concerns about the recruitment process in the rest of the state.”
