After he barely fails in two previous interim title bids, Caught Machi Fukuda at the last Gold Tonight Championship at Deep Jewels 50 in Tokyo, Japan. Fukuda threw one of those losses in the past and eliminated Si Woo “Korean Queen Bee” Park to become the new Deep Jewels Strawweight champion.
Tonight’s Headliner -Rematch contained much less action than the first meeting in May 2024, which ended with the hand of the park, but Fukuda’s raised attack in the final round brought her to victory. Elsewhere, Keito put “Kate Lotus” Oyama veteran Emi Tomimatsu in the coin event of 50 kg.
The first two rounds of tonight’s main event were quiet, with Fukuda (9-2-0) and Park (12-6-0) who both received several warnings for embarrassment. Fukuda seemed to be the slightly more active striker, because she landed a few legs and then mixed hands in the second round in some right hands, but the action was so scarce that referee Masato Fukuda gave both fighters a deduction of one point in the form of a yellow card prior to round three.
Action was picked up in the final round and Fukuda scored two short Takedowns after taking Park’s back. She checked the sheet fights and closed the fight by landing Jabs and a Lead judge. Although Fukuda seemed to win the final round, the overall outcome of the fight was still very in question because of the razor-thin nature of the matte opening of ten minutes.
Judges Tatsuro Nagase and Akira Shibata scored the Close Fight 28-27 for Park. They were overrun by judges Naoya Uematsu, Ryosuke Uchida and Takashi Hashimoto, all of whom returned scores of 28-27 for Fukuda to give the 22-year-old a 3-2 split decision. The two bids from Fukuda for the Interim Strawweight Championship of Deep Jewels were both finished in controversial decisions, but tonight she earned the undisputed title – which was abandoned earlier this year by former champion Seika Izawa – with her greatest victory so far.
“I did it! I wanted a belt like my mentor hunters and I finally did it,” said a delighted Fukuda in the cage after her victory. “I feel hard now with the title belt,” she added when she spoke backstage. “This was my third title fight, and I had to win badly, but I have the feeling that I was too calm in the first two rounds by having a stand -up fight when I am a grappler. I am happy with the belt, but I cannot be satisfied with the contents of the fight. [Emi] Fujino and [Satomi] Takano praised me both, but they said that I think in terms of content. “
While the main event was missing on persistent action, the co-function between the hugely popular Oyama (8-7-0) and 19-year-old veteran Tomimatsu (16-21-0) had enough, although it was largely one-way traffic for the younger Oyama. The 27-year-old Southpaw landed right left and supported Tomimatsu with a combination before he filled a Tomimatsu Takedown attempt. After a long clinch, Oyama Tomimatsu dropped with a left hook to the body. Tomimatsu renewed her foot, but Oyama attacked with more punches late in the round.
Oyama hurt Tomimatsu and bleed her nose with bumps early in the second round. Tomimatsu went on again, but the game became more and more unilateral when Oyama took her apart. Tomimatsu was injured twice more by Oyama’s bumps and tried in vain to get Oyama down by diving into her ankle. Oyama swung one last time on her enemy crushed enemy and the game was stopped at the 4:03 Mark of round two.
“I landed good body bumps and half moon,” said Oyama Backstage after her third straight victory. “My hard training has led to this result every day. I will fight against everyone if I can compete in Kobe again for Rizin.”
In a recommended 49kg fight, Sarah Ellen (2-1-0) punished opponent Yuko Kiryu (13-14-0) for missing weight by hitting her in the first round. Sarah extended an attempt by Kiryu Takedown and pushed her to the mat, where Sarah hit Kiryu’s half -watchman. Kiryu eventually escaped up and she landed a right hand after another failed Takedown attempt. Seconds later, Sarah connected contact with a large right hook that Kiryu’s light shut off and Sarah gave a knock -out victory on the 2:16 point of the first round.
An intriguing 50 kg fight between Princess Saaya (2-3-0) and Junna Tsukii (1-2-0) ended abruptly when an Upkick from Tsukii damaged the left eye of Saaya. Although Saaya was not a grounded hunter at the time of the strike, Upkicks of any kind are not allowed according to the Deep Jewels Rules and Tsukii seemed to be well aware of her mistake immediately after it had landed. Before that, Saaya had done well with a Takedown in the rear control and a coded choke attempt before setting himself in the entire guard of Tsukii. It was when Saaya got up that Tsukii landed an upkick with her heel that Saaya hit directly in her left eye. Time was called, but Saaya could not continue with a long break and she got a disqualification profit at the 3:36 point of the first round.
Nonoka Sakamoto (2-0-0, 1 NC) remained unbeaten and spoiled the pro-debut of Misaki Horiuchi (0-1-0) by stitching her unconscious just over a minute in their strict weight fight. Sakamoto started the fight by diving in Horiuchis single and then jumping on her back. She pulled Horiuchi to the mat and then locked on an arm triangle choke. Horiuchi initially tried to escape by kicking her legs for Momentum, but she couldn’t do this and lost consciousness, the fight at 1:03.
In 52 kg kickboxing campaign, Manaka achieved a unanimous decision victory on Riko Kita after three entertaining rounds. The straight left -wing shots of Manaka gave her a good start in the opening round, and she went against Kita’s aggression in the second round by focusing on her body with knees and stairs. Kita landed some good bumps in the round, and she walked down Manaka with more punches in the entire round three, but that late rally was not enough. Scores were 30-27 and 29-28 twice in favor of Manaka for the victory.
After he had gone profitless in February 2020 in February 2020 with her amateur debut for deep jewelry, Yuko “Pochan Z” Matsuura (1-8-0) finally rose her hand after a strong show tonight against Hitomi Taniyama (1-4-0) at Featherweight. Matsuura’s knees and left hands on the body were very effective in the first round and they allowed her to control the clinch fights. The Taniyama’s clinches in the second round did not produce success and Matsuura kept on knees and short bumps. All three judges scored the fight 20-18 in favor of Matsuura.
Prospect Suzu ooi (1-0-0) opened the professional part of the map and made a successful pro debut by making a clear unanimous decision on Kimika “Jaka” Kawaguchi (2-3-0) in their 44 kg Microeight bout. Ooi immediately surprised Kawaguchi with a straight left and an early combination, but Kawaguchi regained her calmness and she tried a triangular choke and an arm bar when the fight hit the mat. Ooi escaped and resumed her striking dominance on the feet. She again hurt Kawaguchi with punches in the second round, and bleed her nose with Jabs, on her way to a one-sided decision gain with scores of 20-18 across the board.
Marin Yamabuki (2-0-0 amateur) remained unbeaten by dominating former Rizin FF-Ringmeisje Akipi (1-3-0 amateur) on his way to a unanimous decision winning victory in amateur Stromweight promotion. Yamabuki scored two Takedowns in the first round and hit the top position. She assembled Akipi in the second round and landed more bumps, but due to a poorly advised twister attempt by Yamabuki, Akipi allowed to sweep. Back on the feet, Yamabuki took Akipi’s back and pulled her to the mat with a tight followed choke, but time goes. All three jury members scored the match 20-18 for Yamabuki.
An amateur 49 kg fight between Asuka Yokoe (2-0-0 amateur) and Serina Wada (0-2-0 amateur) ended with Yokoe who won an impressive unanimous decision. Yokoe checked the graze in the first round and spent time in the mountain and in the rear control. She insured two more Takedowns in the Second Stanza and closed the fight with Hamervist strikes. Scores were 20-18 for Yokoe across the board.
The most dominant version on the preliminary map came from Yuna Suyama (1-1-0 amateur), who steamed Chanrina (0-1-0 amateur) and finished her in the first round. Suyama scored a Takedown in the mountain and she maintained the position until the last minute. When Suyama fell, she dropped heavy punches in the face of Chanrina, who could do nothing but roll and cover by her side. The fight was stopped at the 2:23 Mark, giving Suyama an impressive TKO victory.
In the opening amateur Prelim match, Kokoro Taniyama (1-0 amateur) started her deep jewelry career with a narrow but well-deserved split decision victory over Mion Wachi (0-2-0 amateur) at StraWweight. Wachi started well with an upper hand right and two more right hands after catching a staircase. She switched to the straight left as the round progressed and Taniyama responded with a combination for the bell. Taniyama was more aggressive in the second round and she supported Wachi with punches. Wachi started slowing down and Taniyama stopped the pressure with more times. Judge Hashimoto even scored the fight on 19-19 and gave his must-decision to Wachi. Judges Uematsu and Shibata also had it 19-19, but their must-decisions went to Taniyama for the narrow split decision gain.
