Lynne McGranger, Tammy Hembrow, Sam Thaiday and Matt Nable join Scott Cam and Ariarne Titmus in the Bahamas for Nine series.
Nine has confirmed six Australian celebrities who will come face to face with sharks for the upcoming series Shark!
Lynne McGranger, Tammy Hembrow, Sam Thaiday and Matt Nable join the previously announced Scott Cam and Ariarne Titmus.
They face the bull shark, hammerhead shark and tiger shark in shark-infested waters.
The celebrities will face exciting shark challenges that escalate in danger and intensity: from diving with the safety of a protective cage to the most terrifying test imaginable: swimming in open water with one of the most aggressive sharks of all time.
Shot in the Bahamas, known as the shark capital of the world, Australian shark attack survivor and former Navy diver Paul de Gelder will accompany the six celebrities on their high-stakes journey. He is joined by shark expert and conservationist Annie Guttridge.
Paul de Gelder said: “Australians have a deep, complicated relationship with sharks. We are a coastal nation: we swim, we surf, we fish. We love it. And when disaster strikes, it hits close to home.”
“That’s why this show matters and why Annie and I felt compelled to help create it Shark! We bring something different: a series that combines intensity and drama with our real love for the ocean and the animals that live there.
“Fear is understandable, but sharks are not villains. They can be dangerous – yes – but they are also beautiful, essential to the health of our oceans and worthy of respect rather than just fear.”
Nine is yet to announce a broadcast date, tipped for later this year.
Shark! is based on the original format Shark! Celebrity-infested waters created and produced by Plimsoll, part of ITV Studios, for the 9Network.
