LSG Team Comparison: IPL 2025 vs IPL 2026 Squad Breakdown

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have put together a strong squad for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. After finishing seventh last season, the Rishabh Pant-led team will be looking to bounce back strongly next year.

During IPL 2025, they were plagued by injuries to their fast bowlers. Without an experienced fast bowler abroad, Pant struggled to stem the flow of runs on batting-friendly wickets at most venues in India. Ravi Bishnoi’s dismal form throughout the season also became a hindrance.

Digvesh Rathi, playing in the IPL for the first time, was tasked with picking up the wickets as well as keeping things tight. The all-Indian pace attack, which was played in most of the matches, could not pose much of a challenge to the opposition batters.

Lucknow Super Giants went into the auction with a budget of INR 22.95 crore. They spent INR 18.40 crore at the IPL 2026 mini-auction on December 16 and made some key signings, hoping to plug the gaps in their roster post-releases.

Learning from their mistakes of last season, the LSG management brought in two experienced T20 bowlers, Anrich Nortje and Wanindu Hasaranga, for the upcoming season. They were roped in at their base price of INR 2 crore. While both are bona fide match winners, they have struggled with injuries in the past and keeping them fit throughout the season will be crucial for the Lucknow-based franchise.

Josh Inglis is another player who has joined the LSG line-up, but he will not be available for all matches. The likes of Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and one of the newest recruits, Naman Tiwari, will be traveling to South Africa for some practice with the Durban Super Giants during the SA20 2026. So, it is clear that a lot of attention is being paid to the bowling department ahead of IPL 2026.
