LPGA Tour Stars teams will compete in WTGL’s inaugural season next winter of 2026-27
The LPGA and TMRW Sports have announced the formation of WTGL, a new team golf platform featuring the world’s best female golfers. Preparing for a winter 2026-27 launch, WTGL will feature teams of LPGA Tour stars competing over a season of fast-paced team match play from the custom-built SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
“The partnership with TMRW Sports on WTGL reflects our belief that innovation can help the game reach new fans and create greater visibility for LPGA athletes,” said LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler. “I’ve seen how new formats can captivate audiences while showcasing athletes’ personalities and achievements, and WTGL brings that spirit of innovation to the women’s game. It’s creating a new global stage for our athletes – one that helps fans connect more deeply with them and continues to increase the visibility and growth of women’s golf.”
“In partnership with the LPGA, WTGL is another step in creating a modern, media-centric version of an age-old game that appeals to today’s sports fan. Since launching TGL a year ago, TMRW Sports has put the pieces in place to create a women’s league featuring the best players in the world. Now, together with the LPGA and its athletes, we look forward to creating a stage to showcase the stars of the LPGA,” said Mike McCarley, Founder and CEO, TMRW Sports. “WTGL’s short team golf format will appeal to new audiences and complement the global appeal of the LPGA Tour.”
A showcase for the skills, personalities and team spirit of the participating LPGA stars, WTGL will build on the foundation of TGL presented by the success of SoFi, which was described as a “high-energy arena spectacle” by Vanity Fair, “pure entertainment” by GQ and “golf’s boldest new venture” by Fast Company. In addition to TGL’s fundamental elements such as mic-up moments, risk-reward decisions and hammer throwing, WTGL will provide the same technology-driven platform with extensive shooting performance data and metrics-based analytics built seamlessly into the competition. Additional details about WTGL will be announced in the coming months. Visit WTGLGolf.com to stay informed.
Season 1 of TGL attracted one of the youngest viewers in sports, behind the NBA, in both average age (52) and percentage of viewers in the adults 18-49 demo (41%). To illustrate the complementary relationship between TGL and the PGA TOUR, research shows that 10% of TGL viewers who were fans of the PGA TOUR watched more PGA TOUR coverage last season and 32% of TGL viewers ages 18 to 34 did not regularly watch the PGA TOUR. Season 2 of TGL has begun with the next game today at 5:00 PM ET on ESPN, with The Bay Golf Club (0-0) making its season debut against defending champion Atlanta Drive GC (1-0), which won the season-opening game on Sunday, December 28 on ABC.
