I placed what will probably be my last comc order on Saturday. I’ll write about why I feel this way when the order arrives, but I think anyone reading this who has interacted with that site recently knows that it isn’t what it once was.
I’ll have to broaden my horizons again when it comes to buying tickets. It seems the reliable old ways – comc, card shows, store shelves – are no longer as foolproof as they once were, and I’ll have to look for more alternatives.
Fortunately, I have good connections and my love for the hobby is well known. Cards can come from any direction, as this post shows.

These cards come from Alan via the BlueSky giveaway thread. They are TCMA reprints of the 1936 Goudey set (R322). My excitement in getting these — aside from the fact that I love everything from TCMA — is that they are from 1972, which is the first year TCMA started issuing sets. These are the oldest TCMA cards I own! Oh well, they might as well be Goudey originals.
The players pictured are Wally Berger, Chuck Klein, Kiki Cuyler, Rolly Hemsley and Slick Castleman.

This came from my wife. I’m exploring all the ticket sales streets.
Perhaps even more surprising is that it was an anniversary gift. Who needs gold baubles???? She had seen me sitting on the floor of the local flea market months ago, staring at this Shawn Green Starting Lineup Kit. I didn’t buy it. I’m mainly interested in the card and for $20 it wasn’t worth it.
But now I have it, and – I’m sure this will upset someone – the card and figure are both out of the package.

My main mission here was to get this card into a folder with all his Dodgers friends. Starting lineup cards can be a bit elusive (my recent comc order included several) and this is a stealth Dodger card (“Traded to Los Angeles Dodgers”), meaning it probably never would have made it onto my radar if I hadn’t seen it at the flea market.

There is the back of the package, in case anyone is interested. I kept the packaging. Who knows where I’ll put it, but it feels important.

The last map source I’m going to show is from a reader. Thank goodness readers have been sending cards since the blog started and they haven’t stopped yet. They are the real heroes.
This Yamamoto Heritage duo came from reader Casey. He’s the one who claimed my first downsizing card pack. That in itself was appreciated. He didn’t have to send me anything, but I’m certainly happy with it.

Some 2025 Topps parallels I needed, base foil on the left and diamond foil on the right. Foil, foil, foil. The obsession continues. Casey also sent the Gavin Stone yellow parallel at the top of the post.

My favorite card Casey sent. This is the last 1992 gold I needed for the Dodgers team set. This was a need for a long time and was on My Nebulous Nine for a long time. Now I can erase it and celebrate another team set being ready!!
I’m in the process of collecting a new selection of cards to reduce. Again, I hope someone will take them off my hands. I still need to free up space, although with fewer ways to get cards it may not be as urgent as I thought.
