Liverpool striker explains why pressure proves he is “in the right place”.

Liverpool’s latest behind-the-scenes content has provided an insight into how one of our summer signings is adapting to life at Anfield, while embracing the pressure that comes with wearing red.

Hugo Ekitike, signed from Eintracht Frankfurt, has already scored 10 goals in all competitions during his debut season with us.

Speaking at the club’s A Day With… function All red videothe forward explained how this move has transformed both his football and his life off the pitch.

‘My life has changed completely since I signed here’ he said. “I’m even more famous in my country, also because of the level of the games I play, it’s just a different life.”

Olivier Giroud has backed his compatriot to succeed at international level, stating: “I think he has a good chance of being called up for the World Cup.”

The number 22, who acknowledged him, now follows him everywhere but insisted he prefers calmness away from football despite understanding what is involved in playing for Liverpool.

“I like the side that people recognize that you are good at football,” he said. “But I like to be quiet outside.”

Crucially, the forward did not view pressure as a burden, but as confirmation that he is exactly where he should be in his career.

“If you don’t put pressure on, if people don’t care, that means you’re not in the right place,” he explained. “I’m in the right place.”

That mentality is in line with the standards demanded by Arne Slot and the former Frankfurt man acknowledged that he understands what is expected of him at Liverpool, while also making demands on himself.

‘I know what people expect’ he said. “I also have my expectations.”

Rather than settling for goals or strong performances, Ekitike stressed that his focus remains on constant improvement.

“Because if I score a brace tomorrow and I say: ‘I’m really good’, then that’s the end of it,” he added. “Obviously I want to be the best, that’s why I play.”

These comments underline why the Reds invested heavily in the French-born striker, whose early goal was backed by ruthless work rate and mentality.

Slot praised his work rate against Brighton, saying: “He probably did twice as much as he did in early season games where I had to take him out with a cramp.”

At a club where standards never drop, the pressure he describes is not a warning sign but proof that Liverpool remains the right place to pursue greatness.
