Franklin, Ky. – Think of Lurynos’ The easy victory in the $ 500,000 Keeneland Sales Tapit Stakes as the first of what could be a few performances this season in Kentucky Downs.
Limynos settled early in a stalking trip and then shot away under Jockey Jose Ortiz to win the opening day of the track with 5 ¼ lengths. The victory for 4-year-old Katharos Colt owned by Prince Sultan Bin Mishal Al Saud was his first of the year, ending a loss of five races. Three of those losses came to graded commitment.
With a whole series of solid stakes on his CV, Neynos was the 3-2 favorite in the field of nine and he ran with a smart victory and paid $ 5.00 in the fifth triumph of his career in 20 race.
Hall of Fame -Trainer Steve Asmussen said that Limynos might return to the $ 2 million Fanduel TV Mint Millions on 6 September.
“That’s what I hope,” said Asmussen. “If they like the course, they love the course. We have until next year to freshen it up. But I want to walk it back, yes.”

ASmussen made the same type of relocation last year when Tiztastic won a $ 250,000 Keeneland Sale Excmsion Race on the opening day and 10 days later won the $ 1 million Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile.
From the Buitenpost, Limynos was never far from the leadership determined by Paros. By a quarter of miles in: 23.18, Limynos was fourth, less than a length back. He was third, 2 ½ lengths behind half a mile in: 45.37. Ortiz, for the first time on Limynos, said he drove him with confidence and asked him to approach the quarter pole more. Neynos gave him everything he wanted and had a five -length lead early in the long piece. Only they run the race of one mile and 70 yards in 1: 36.10. That would be a track record. “He broke well. He placed me in a great place,” said Ortiz, who rode four winners. “And to be honest, when I asked him on the quarterly post, I was full of a horse.”

Limynos earned $ 298,800 in the tapit to become a millionaire with career income of $ 1,222,891.
“He is a very beautiful horse,” said Ortiz. “I expected that he would run a good race today. Steve was very happy that he came in. I think it was a nice race for him and a good preparation for something bigger.”
Limynos placed four consecutive in-the-money finishes to start the year with less than a length. In his most recent start, he was seventh, defeated four lengths, in the G1 Fourstardave in Saratoga.
“I thought it was great to see him achieve such a victory because he deserves it that way,” Asmussen said. “He appears. He danced every dance. He is a very cool horse. What a nice victory for him. His girl breaks here, you know he has a little affinity for of course. Man, he wore himself beautifully in the middle of the race and accelerated the house beautifully. “
Ortiz said he had an ideal journey.
“I wanted to stand just behind the speed, just depending on how quickly we went the first eight of a mile uphill and how he wore me,” said Ortiz. “But he wore me uphill, too good to just pull him back. I let him be and let him take a position. It felt like I was on the best horse in the race from that moment on, so I drove him like that.”
