McLaren’s MCL39 won both the constructors’ and drivers’ titles in 2025, giving Lando Norris his first championship. This LEGO model captures the winning experience by accurately replicating the original car’s aggressive lines and vibrant, eye-catching papaya orange paint scheme. Once completed, the completed model measures 24 inches long, 5 inches high and takes up 9.5 inches of shelf space; it’s safe to say it will be the star of any exhibition.

The features really bring this model to life, with silky smooth steering thanks to a newly rebuilt rear gear system that connects directly to the cockpit steering wheel for quick response. Both the front and rear suspension work well, with a pull-rod setup up front and a push-rod setup at the rear, making it feel like the real thing on the track. The V6 engine is visible as soon as the tailgate is lifted, complete with pistons that actually move as you push the vehicle forward, adding the ultimate touch of authenticity.
Wait, there’s more, starting with a two-speed gearbox that lets you switch things up by shifting gears that change the way those pistons rotate. The real standout feature is the direct link to the Drag Reduction System (DRS), where you simply open the bonnet, shift into a higher gear and the rear wing flap is activated, just like in real life.
As the build progresses through ten numbered bags, start with the suspension parts and work your way up to the chassis, engine, front end, bodywork and finally all the little details that bring it to life. The first stages revolve around the assembly of the core frame and drivetrain, after which you can start layering all the aerodynamic components, such as the front wing with its incredibly detailed multi-panel design and the recognizable Mastercard branding via some handy stickers. Sidepods emerge with careful styling, although closer inspection reveals a small gap at the bottom and some awkward intersections in the black and orange panels. The airbox uses system parts for refined contours, and the rear wing achieves smooth lines with a brick-built DRS mechanism in the center.
The proportions are quite accurate from most perspectives, especially when looking straight ahead, as the curved sidepod and layered wings all match the real car quite closely. The visible exhaust and lighting at the rear add a lot of depth to this model. The wheel sizes are the same across the Technic F1 series, which is a bit of a compromise. While this doesn’t quite match the setup of the real MCL39, the black-heavy paint scheme does a great job of masking the minor imperfections.
