Leeds 0 Newcastle 0 – Saturday, August 30, 2025 5.30 pm
Instant fan / writer response from some of our regular contributors on the MAG.
Nat Seaton:
‘Two way games, two 0-0 tracts, but the performances in both games were world apart.
A really disappointing football game, our performance level was a huge decrease from Monday. Maybe it needs too much for it?
Eddie didn’t look too happy on the sidelines, but let’s continue with this difficult start of the season (for many reasons) and they all do together on the 13th, with a renewed team that should go again to go again. ‘
Gatoon:
‘A difficult watch, but at least we didn’t lose.
Bruno was great on Monday but well marked by Longstaff today.
The game was pretty bad, but I thought the boys played well individually.
I just miss a goal scorer.
Pope did well today too.
An interesting few days are ahead … ‘
Billy Miller:
‘A game with little going on.
Came in a number of decent positions, but not good opportunities.
For me, the season starts at the end of the international break.
The transfer window is closed, so we know our team and can somehow move forward.
Isak has derailed our August and, if he is still a Newcastle player when he returns from Sweden, he has a huge job to pay everyone back. ‘
Matt Busby said …:
“Does the expected goals tell the real story? Probably.
Leeds United is terrible.
Newcastle united the better team but toothless.
Unbeaten on the road and we have not admitted, is probably the best I can collect after I have been through it.
We can be in the relegation zone after tomorrow’s matches! ‘
Tony Mallabar:
‘Well, on the way down, it must be the quietest way I have ever had.
While all the boys were on their phone to book planes, trains and coaches for our Champions League adventures.
Unfortunately, there is no European football after that in the 26/27 season.
To bring this into the context, there was no lack of effort, but a clear lack of cutting edge.
Hopefully, come on Monday evening 19.01pm This is well placed. ‘
David Point:
‘A really bad game that we worked through, without advanced front in the front.
It was hard to look at.
This is what you get if you have no strikers that were signed on time before the start of the season.
It was a boring encounter. There was little to inspire, except the fact that we have appeared with a point instead of none.
Our new German striker Nick Woltemade cannot get into the team quickly enough, we also need someone else to fill the number nine shirt. The clock ticks.
At least we had a clean slate, but the formation used by Howe was a surprise.
We have to see much more from Barnes and Elanga.
The Hartzeer game against Liverpool may have left a light hangover. ‘
Mark Jankwski:
‘Newcastle made a tweak today and although we could keep Leeds, the tactic also suppressed us.
The honor must be given to the efforts of Leeds to frustrate all the attempts we have made to play the wing, but we will have to improve against teams sitting that way, or there will be more frustrating afternoons on the horizon. ‘
