Landaluce has arrived! Spaniard qualifies for Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF

Martin Landaluce has qualified for the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF, 12 months after serving as an alternate at the 20 and under event.

The Spaniard started the season well by qualifying for the Australian Open for the first time. After a consistent six months, Landaluce then won a main draw match at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati. ATP Challenger Tour success then arrived in Orleans, where the 19-year-old lifted his second trophy at that level and first of the year.

Landaluce works with coaches Oscar Burrieza and Esteban Carril. Landaluce’s partnership with Burrieza started with a phone call when the Spaniard was just 14. What sets Landaluce apart goes further than just his backhand or his court sense. Burrieza believes his greatest asset is something rare, something almost intangible.

“For me, his balance, mentally, is one of his greatest talents,” Burrieza told ATPTour.com. “Tennis is mentally brutal. Most weeks you lose. But Martin has the ability to wake up the next day and go back to training as if nothing happened. He resets emotionally. Whether he’s about to play in the Madrid Open or a Futures match, he behaves the same. That consistency in attitude is rare.”

Off the court, Landaluce, a former US Open Boys Singles Champion, enjoys playing guitar and studying the mental side of the game.

“I like to do a lot of things outside of tennis that help me mentally, reading, breathing exercises, meditation. Those things help me stay focused on the court,” Landaluce told ATPTour.com in August.

“I try to rely on discipline more than motivation. A lot of people think motivation comes first, but for me discipline comes first and with that comes motivation. You start doing something, and as you get better, you start to enjoy it more. That’s where the motivation comes from.”

The Next Gen ATP Finals 2025, presented by PIF, will take place from December 17 to 21. Former champions include Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Jakub Mensik, Learner Tien, Alexander Blockx and Dino Prizmic have qualified for this year’s event.
