Lakers hire Lon Rosen from Dodgers to replace Tim Harris as president of Business Operations

The Los Angeles Lakers have named Lon Rosen president of Business Operations.

Rosen has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of the Los Angeles Dodgers since 2012. He began his career with the Lakers, interning with the organization while still in college and becoming an executive in the team’s front office in the 1980s before leaving to become a high-profile agent and leader in the sports world.

Under Rosen’s leadership, the Dodgers have seen their revenue increase every year and have led Major League Baseball since 2013 while winning three World Series titles. He brings a deep knowledge of the Los Angeles sports market, as well as a personal familiarity with both the Lakers organization and the priorities of the Mark Walter-led TWG.

“For years I have watched the impact Lon has had in our industry. During that time, I have learned that Lon is not only a great person, but he also has a deep understanding of both sports and entertainment and a good sense of where this company is going,” said Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss.

Tim Harris, the Lakers’ longtime president of business operations, announced in an email to colleagues this week that he planned to resign after more than three decades with the organization.

“Finding someone who could fill Tim’s shoes and oversee the business side of our organization was never going to be easy,” Buss said. “The answer, we quickly realized, was someone both Mark and I knew well – and who already understood the values, culture and commitment to excellence of both the Dodgers and Lakers.”

Rosen emphasized that he would build on the Lakers’ rich history and age-old values in his new role.

“I am beyond grateful to Jeanie and Mark for entrusting me with this incredible opportunity,” said Rosen. ‘As everyone knows, the economics of sports are constantly changing – and will continue to do so.

“But at its core, my job is simple: figure out how we can do right by our employees and our partners while ensuring the Lakers continue to provide an unparalleled experience for our fans in Los Angeles and around the world. I look forward to working with Jeanie, Rob and the entire front office team to make that happen.”
