Kummute, in collaboration with cross-border taxi associations in Malaysia and Singapore, has launched its digital cross-border taxi booking service, described as the first app-based solution that makes seamless license taxi rides possible.
The service, which started yesterday, enables commuters to book qualified cross-border journeys via the Kummute app. You can book in advance, or on-demand, with transparent rates in advance. The payment is in-app Cashless and the cabins are guranteed from registered cross-border licensed operators with legal drivers.
According to current regulations, Malaysian-agent cross-border taxis can pick up passengers anywhere in Malaysia, but they have to drop off at the Ban San Street Terminal in Singapore. SG-figured cross-border taxis can pick up anywhere on the island, but have to drop off passengers in Larkin Sentral in JB. Search for ‘CB Taxi’ signs at the locations.
Kummute says that the phased launch approach makes bookings from both Malaysia (payment in RM) and Singapore (SGD) possible. The second phase will add functions and innovations ‘to further increase the cross -border journey’, with details that must be announced later.
Kummute, powered by Kumpool, describes itself as a mobility platform that offers affordable and reliable shared transport solutions. Launch in 2021 as the first bus-on-demand (BOD)/Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) service of Malaysia, Kummute has since expanded to deliveries and now, cross-border taxi operations.
