With Francis Ngannou barely fighting anymore (especially not in MMA, with just one fight and one win since leaving the UFC), it’s hard to imagine a better heavyweight outside of the UFC right now than Phil De Fries.
England’s Fries, a former UFC talent himself, went 2-3 in the octagon and had a few issues after reaching the regional stage. After overcoming personal demons and turning his career around, he hasn’t lost since 2017. He is on a 15-fight win streak, including wins over UFC veterans Todd Duffee, Darko Stosic and Augusto Sakai, among others.
He has now made eleven successful title defenses with his KSW heavyweight title, an impressive feat regardless of promotion. At KSW 111 he will try to make it an even dozen when he takes on Stefan Vojcak, who has won three fights (including one over Stosic) to get a title shot.
The light heavyweight title is also on the line when the Polish promotion heads to the Czech Republic on Saturday.
