Krzysztof Jotko clashes with Kerim Engizek at Oktagon 82: Engizek vs. Jotko on January 17 in the middleweight finals of the OKMMA Tipsport Gamechanger Tournament in the main event attraction. After expressing some uncertainties about how Engizek might appear in this fight and when asked to explain what he meant by that, Jotko said: [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Because he [Kerim Engizek] broke their hands less than three months ago. He has an infection, he’s training with one hand, you know, for our camp. So I don’t know. Everyone around me told me he’s not going to fight, he’s not going to fight. But I believe he will fight. So I hope we will fight.”
Engizek has also alluded to some of Jotko’s previous weight loss issues, which the latter said stemmed from personal issues, including divorce proceedings Jotko was previously involved in. When asked if he feels like Engizek isn’t focused on what the ex-UFC vet brings to the table as far as the skills piece goes and if Engizek might be even more focused on missing weight, Jotko said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“I think he just doesn’t have any confidence in the things he says because if he’s really tough, he’s a tough, tough savage. He’s not going to care about my weight. The last time I missed the weight was 200 grams. Who cares about 200 grams if you’re damn tough and if you’re fierce, you know what I mean? So don’t talk to me about, oh, don’t respect, don’t respect. I never don’t disrespect you. I never miss weight with you. So be quiet and wait your turn.
Krzysztof Jotko praises Engizek as ‘really talented’ but wonders if lack of global experience will be a hindrance
Kerim Engizek is also on a decent win streak and has forged his own impressive path to this final at the other end of the bracket. When asked about his thoughts on Engizek’s skills and overall efforts through the Octagon Tipsport Gamechanger Tournament, Jotko joked [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“He’s a good fighter. Yes, like I said in the beginning, I knew he would be in the final. I know he’s really talented. He’s a good boxer. But like I said in the beginning, he never fights from behind. In Germany, he fights his whole career in his backyard.”
