The Kraken in Seattle have made clear: Jared McCann is not going anywhere – at least not yet. According to Seattle Hockey InsiderThe New Jersey Devils belonged to the teams that said earlier this summer that the 29-year-old attacker was not available.
It is not difficult to see why. Whispers that McCann is a player who would be open to trade, are much less frequent than teams that would probably want to exchange for him if he were available. He led the cracks in scoring in all four of their NHL seasons and was signed for another two years with a very team-friendly cap hit of $ 5 million.
McCann is a legitimate goal of 25-40 ahead of a value contract that only looks better if the salary limit rises. Since his breakout 40 goal, 70-point season in 2022-23, he is followed with consistent 61 and 62-point campaigns, and it is unlikely that his production will fall if he has moved to another team.
Trade Talk will continue to surround McCann
The Handelskatter has been steadily for a large part of the low season. The Montreal Canadiens are recently linked to McCann, and the interest of the Devils is said to be due to their need for a reliable top-six attacker. The oilers do not have the cap space, but they are always looking for a top-six wing player in a good deal, and Toronto has tried to replace Mitch Marner for most of the summer.
However, every deal would come to a steep price. Reporter Jim Biringer presented a package to start with a pick in the first round, a top perspective. For the Devils, that potentially means moving the young forward Dawson Mercer.
For now, Seattle has all leverage. But if the cracking stumbles early and falling from the play -off rack because of our Thanksgiving, that speculation – and offers – will rise rapidly. Until then, McCann will remain firm in Seattle’s plans.
