Kobbie Mainoo: Juventus make ‘Pogba 2.0’ transfer decision on star ahead of January – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly considering a January move for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as he continues to compete for playing time under Ruben Amorim.

Mainoo exit on the maps

Since the appointment of Amorim as Erik ten Hag’s replacement in November last year, Mainoo has had to settle for being an outsider. This season, however, his problems have become much more apparent.

The Carrington Academy graduate has played just 170 minutes of Premier League action in United’s opening 12 games.

At the start of the season, Amorim reiterated that Mainoo is in direct competition with Bruno Fernandes for a starting spot. Mainoo’s recent appearance against Everton only highlighted how rusty he is given his limited minutes this season.

Keen to secure a place in the England squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Mainoo requested United to agree a loan deal during the final stages of the summer transfer window. The club refused.

It is believed that Mainoo remains open to a loan switch in January if his situation does not improve. There is no shortage of interest in him, with the likes of Napoli and Arsenal mentioned as sides eyeing him.

However, Amorim made it clear that Mainoo should not leave unless it is in the best interests of the club.

As the saga continues, TuttoJuve has revealed that Juventus have entered the race for the 20-year-old’s signature. It is clear that Juventus intend to pluck United’s homegrown midfield talent, as they did with Pogba many years ago.

Juventus makes Mainoo decision

AllJuve Recognize that Mainoo is a “priority” for Napoli boss Antonio Conte, who believes he needs more options in the middle of the park.

Should Mainoo leave, United will almost certainly have to look for a replacement.

The report adds: “Ruben Amorim continues to reiterate that ‘anything can happen’, leaving all options open for the January transfer window, especially if a suitable offer is received by management.”

“Juventus are interested in the player and could try for a Pogba 2.0.”

Mainoo’s contract with United expires in 2007 and talks over a new deal have yet to come to a fruitful conclusion.
